Mario 2D or 3D ? Make your choice...

LiveWii writes : "The Wii news of the week might be calm enough, the fact remains that XenoBlade news have renewed faith in Monolith and the future of RPG on the Nintendo console. But another unusual enough info, one million reached by Super Mario Galaxy in Japan, gave us the idea of the debate of the week.

Although completely devoid of any challenge, Super Mario Galaxy is regarded by a handful of fans of the plumber as the best 3D episode of the franchise. For others, nothing beats a good old platform game in the old 2D as the recent New Super Mario Bros Wii.

Neither one nor two, it was enough to inspire us for that week.
Is Nintendo right to alternate dimensions to the risk of being regressive in some difficulty and innovative artistic direction ? What is your first choice? Above, do you see a parallel to binding between the two?

In short, have your head in the stars of the galaxy or grounded?"

I for one love 2D side-scroller type games and would love Nintendo to make more. I would love to see a new Donkey Kong Country, Metroid & Kid Icarus. Plus I would love to see Star Fox as a rail-shooter again like the first Star Fox for NES. So I hope Nintendo makes more 2D games. Because I love the way they look and play.

My top 3 are Mario 3, Mario World and Mario 64. Mario Odyssey is also excellent, and I enjoyed Sunshine but didn't care for the Galaxy series.

Am I missing something? It looks exactly the same, just higher resolution… Is this sarcasm?

specialguest357d ago

Yes, you're not observant if you think it looks exactly the same. It immediately appeared different to me from the start. Mario's 3D model will always be the same, so not much difference there. However, the animation they've given the Super Mario Wonder makes it look more like a CGI Mario animation where as the New Mario Bros game looks more like typical video game animation movements

@specialguest Yeah those animations are insane.

FinalFantasyFanatic357d ago

You really didn't notice the difference? It's really obvious, I was surprised when I first saw the trailer.

This Mario game looks great, getting a switch for this and Mario RPG. CANT WAIT, TITS JACKED.

Profchaos357d ago

Yeah I liked how much more emotion could be conveyed through the new style at first glance I didn't see much difference but then rewatching the trailer I'm seeing more and more animations that remind me of the Mario artwork from the manual of smb3

I hated the new super Mario bros Style. This new one seems a lot more expressive and less generic. I hope it's a good game

I prefer the 2d Mario's. Me and my girl have played them all together and mario galaxy , Mario odyssey. The 2nd player option is extremely eh
