It's hard to believe that career modes in sports games didn't make it into the mainstream sooner. Only in the last few years are companies like 2K Sports and EA beginning to notice the value and the enjoyment that can be derived from creating your virtual likeness and taking it to the pinnacle of your favorite sport. MLB 2K is the latest of many series to fall in line and take a stab at delivering the dream professional sports career mode.

XMNR: With the American and National League Championship games still to go, 2K Sports ran a simulation to determine who will capture the conference championships and go on to win the World Series. The result is a prediction that, after dispatching the home town Atlanta Braves, the San Francisco Giants do likewise with the Philadelphia Phillies before going on to meet and defeat the New York Yankees in the World Series.
