GPB writes: "Whenever a big sporting event takes place in real life, you can bet there's a video game company out there ready to pounce on the popularity with a digital representation. Sega did that right on cue with the Winter Olympic games, not only with a real simulation (Vancouver 2010) but also a pair of fantasy efforts involving Sonic and Mario. And now, with the 2010 FIFA World Cup set to kick off this summer, EA Sports is aligning with the league and all its teams to create a game worthy of the tournament name."
Sports games that have outlived their playability
So wait..EVERY major video game sports franchise needs to die?
Wrong hobby..knitting sounds more your speed..
Don't like sports games then don't buy em' (which I'm sure you NEVER did)..but to pretend they ALL need to die is IMO idiotic.
Evil
These franchises certainly don't need to "die".
Your probably upset with these games because their yearly hits...and here's why. It's just a tradition..nothing else. America has accustomed itself to have a new game every year for sports. Updating players, teams, and playstyles...it's all become the same game every year, but for the players of these games it's actually a new experience everytime.
So to think they need to die...I think your just mad that their selling...kind of like hating on Justin Bieber because he sells out like no other..hahaha
Did anyone read this article? My god that would have received an F in a 5th grade english class...
Here is the Madden portion for those too lazy to click the link:
"Madden NFL – For those who are football fans, this series has been around since 1988 and changed names slightly along the way. Regardless it is still a game that lets players choose a football team and play against the other teams. Granted there have been teams added and closed out over the years and the team players are traded to other teams, the game really isn’t any different. It’s time to find a new football game, maybe one that includes college teams or allows the gamer to create their own fictitious team."
"Tiger Woods PGA Tour – Here is the golf fans game and another one that went through a name change when Tiger Woods became THE name in golf. How exciting can golf be where you need a new game every year? Truthfully they need to let it rest for a bit and then come back so that perhaps they will gain new fans"
So the despite the title the theme seemed to be not so much "die" as rest or be updated in some massive way.
I singled the Tiger Woods game out, because I do think at this point they might as well go ahead and give it a name change and not focus so much on Tiger. Especially not as much as they did in this year addition.
