No Gears 3 in 2010?

Gamervision reports: "As you may recall, Gears of War came out in 2006 and Gears of War 2 came out in 2008. Following that schedule, it wouldn't be a stretch to think that Epic is likely shooting for a 2010 release for Gears of War 3, right? Wrong, apparently. According to a source close to Epic, there isn't going to be a Gears of War title released in 2010, and we'll likely have to wait a little longer before we jump back into the over-sized combat boots of Delta Squad."

Epic already stated that the next Gears would be available on the next generation of consoles. If they change that plan, 2010 is still too soon. Late 2011 is much more likely.

People expect Gears 3 in 2010 because Gears 2 came out in 2008, two years after the first Gears. Halo AND Gears in one year will not happen if you ask me. Microsoft is smarter than that. They will spread that game out for 2011, possibly 2012.

If I remember right, Epic never said they wouldn't release Gears 3 this generation. Instead the comment was that if they decided to use the Unreal Engine 4 for Gears 3 then they would wait until the next generation, otherwise it would be released this generation. Even if they do decide to wait until next gen for Gears 3 that doesn't mean they aren't planning another game in the series, a prequel perhaps. Still, I agree that a 2010 release is highly unlikely as I doubt MS would want to put the game in direct competition with Halo Reach.

While there was lag during the first few months, it's been fixed for quite awhile.
I enjoy a few lag free horde mode runs once in awhile.
Assuming they use the same network coding, there should be no lag since they fine tuned it. And is lag free like other TPS games like U2

Well, with Halo Reach coming out towards the end of 2010, I can understand why they wouldn't want to release Gears 3 this year.

But this is just a rumor anyway so who knows what will happen

I think you're right. I believe the same thing. Halo reach is coming out around the end of the year, MS and EPIC know that you don't want to put up your 2nd largest franchise against your 1st largest franchise during the same time period.

Epic will hold off Gears 3 till 2011. But if they choose not too and do release Gears 3 in 2010...that would just make me a much happier person as it would help benefit my wants as a gamer. =)

But I think this why Gear 3 is gettting proper development time. I really felt that Gear 2 was made in hurry.

Also Epic needs to beat Splinter Cell, Alan Wake, Halo Reach in graphics and most of all Mass Effect 2.

I think it would be great to see the game come out in April or May. I like that the rumor says that Gears 3 could come out in the second quarter.

I so wish more developers would bring there games out in different parts of the year. I hate how almost always all new games come out in September to November. So I would love to see more games come out in the second quarter. So if Gears 3 comes out in April, May or June I would love that. So I hope that is when Gears 3 comes out.

Well Epic pretty much used Gears to showcase the (at the time) new Unreal Engine, perhaps they'll decide to do that again, of course that will probably coincide with the new generation.

I still wager they'll want to release sooner than that, using the 360.

Heck, 2010 is looking weak for the 360 library but they're stay a float with some timed exclusive games and halo. When you see them hyping Crackdown 2 like it's some insane title, you know they're "reaching" XD

would be if they just dont make new consoles for another 5 years, id be happy with that. ps3 and 360 are more than good enough to last another 5, also it makes sense for them to hold off another year think about the trend that way, 2006=gears, 2007=halo, 2008=gears, 2009=halo, 2010=halo, 2011=gears........every year they would have 1 of their two biggest franchises, makes perfect sense, just sucks for me cause i cant wait to play the next halo or gears :(

It most likely is coming in 2011. Both series are normally released in the Fall. Why would that have 2 of their top franchises coming out at the end of the year when they can have both shine on their own.

Uhhhh Gears 2 came out in 2008 just a few months after Halo 3 and they both sold in the millions. These franchises have released during the same year before there will be no shortage of people buying both games. One for your FPS fix, and the other for your third person, cover based shooter fix. Both games are the best in their genre. I don't believe this story, and I fully expect a Gears 3 announcement at GDC or E3 this year. Mark it down.
