GameSpot: Football Manager Handheld 2010 Review

GameSpot writes: "Managing a professional soccer team is arguably one of the most stressful jobs in sport, but if you've ever played one of developer Sports Interactive's management sims, then you know that it can also be a lot of fun. Poring over spreadsheets and experiencing matches primarily via text-based commentary have long been favorite pastimes for fans of the Football Manager games, and the series' only major weakness is that as it has become increasingly deep with every incarnation, it has also become increasingly intimidating for newcomers. The scaled-down Football Manager Handheld 2010 doesn't have that problem, but sadly, it has a number of others and is a little too simplistic to keep veterans entertained for long."

Best Football Games Ever

“Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.” This philosophy also carries over to video games, with many not just buying the latest FIFA or Pro Evolution Soccer to have a little dabble with, but to invest a solid twelve months of playing time into. Here is a list of what Craig Bryan believes to be some of, if not the best football-based video games ever created.

Football as in soccer....huh?

AmayaAi4703d ago

And..the confusion goes on and on..

TheGOODKyle4703d ago

As an American, please don't tell me you're that ignorant?

beerkeg4703d ago

@SoldierX

In America, a game where you mostly use your hands is called football. In the rest of the world, that big part of the world outside your country, the game Americans call 'soccer' is widely known as 'football'.

I hope that helps.

terrorofdeath4703d ago

You must have seen John Cleese's comparison of soccer and football on youtube, haven't you?

beerkeg4703d ago

I hadn't, no, but having seen your reply I just have and he sums it up perfectly. :P

AmayaAi4702d ago

Why would a game be called as Football when it's clearly played by using hands. Either we Amaricans are crazy or whoever named Soccer Football in Amarica was crazy.

Slugg3r4702d ago

@AmayaAi
American football and soccer/football both originated from the same sports, which was called football. Original was played using your feet but you could also take the ball in your hands rugby style. So American football and football were originally the same sports which just evolved in different directions.

I live in the UK and I like to call it 'soccer' to just piss off my friends. Try it, it's fun.

The only sport I really like is Basketball.

I only clicked on these comments because I was pretty sure the first comment would be something like "Not a real sport" or "That's not football!" or the already mentioned. I guess I was right.

Football Manager on a smartphone sounds amazing. That is the perfect game to play anywhere.

Spot on with PES4. Played that game for years and haven't played a better footie game since. It just had an amazing feel with the ball at your feet. And you could actually beat players with pace which made 1 vs 1 matches really fun!

MoonConquistador4702d ago

The fact was passing was much more an important part of PES, crisp one touch passing and a good through ball to unlock a defence. Football perfection until around PES 6

torchic4702d ago

I think PES5 will forever be known as the best football game ever made. even on PSP that game was perfection.

TouchGen: Football Manager Handheld 2010 Review

TouchGen: Taking your team to the next level is the dream of any manager, and in Football Manager Handheld 2010 you get 11 countries to conquer. With a massive 34 leagues, and 20.000 players there is no shortage of player content. Other aspects such as arena management, and financial planning have been scaled down. Personally I think this is a good move as it lets me focus on the footie aspect of the game.
