PS3 Resistance FOM Will Feature 40 Players Online

Never before in the history of gaming (or as long as we can remember, anyhow) has there been a FPS game that allowed 40 players to go crazy on a virtual battlefield. Until the PS3 came along, that is. A report from PSM says that Resistance: Fall Of Man will feature 40-player online capability, which is even more than the previously announced number of 32.

This is the first good news i have heard for the ps3 in a very long time and this game is going to be awesome all of their ratchet and clank games have been really fun and this game should be just as good but w/ good multiplayer

Didn't the latest Delta Force game for xbox (mby ps2 too) feature a huge ammount of players? i'm pretty sure it was more than 40 but they could have decreased it at the release

Delta Force for Xbox had 50 players online, and that's more than 40 players(The PS2 had 32 players). Sorry to break it to you gamefiend it's been done before. Nuff said.

It all depends on the internet connection and the type of game. Battlefield 2 for xbox 360 had a high player count as well because it had deticated servers and it had extras like tons of vehicles.

i'm quite sure achira hasn't actually played Resistance (much like me, he's probably just excited by the simple fact that the game looks good, and its made by the creators of the lauded Ratchet and Clank, who also have experience in the fps' genre with the critically acclaimed Distruptor). but the truth of the matter is everything shown of Resistance so far has been realtime, in-game footage. just fyi

Go to IGN's PS3 section and search for Resistance: Fall of Man where it says "PS3 game" in a search bar. Click on videos and download yourself some nice gameplay footage of it. ENJOY!! (I hate it when people are just blatantly wrong!)

Sony rely on their developers servers to host games, thats the problem with PS3 online.

MS use their huge servers for Live! and offer it to 360 developers as a free server for their online games. I predict in games like this, Sony's lack of unified online service will lead to some major laggggggg.

ok 40 on with a unproven sony service spells trouble, lagging like crazy, parfect dark 0 surpports 32 on line, but with out a good internet connection its down to 16 players total and the host have to have the best internet service to host 40 player online, and to play game with that many people u have to have a good connection or you lag the game out and you get ket out of the server

i am not hating on sony online just stating the facts,i have xbox live and verizon dsl internet,i can only host up to 18 players on my server on perfact dark 0 and its fine but over 18 it is laggy or it wont let me host,but if my internet was cable i can host a 32 player on line and no lag.

This looks just as good as gears of war from what i have seen. 40 players online looks to be a blast. I dont know what you guys are tlaking about, that its only going to be on the devs servers...you guys just dont know. First, the xbox fansboys were all hollering about how SONY doesnt even have an online plan, that there will be no online for the PS3, then PS3 comes out, and tells everyone, we have an online plan, similar to XBL, they WILL have unified servers people, with an option of 3rd party devs to connect their servers to SONY's. So quit saying that they wont. Anyways, this game is too sweet, I am getting this, I am getting motorstorm which totally loos awesome, and is only gonna get better. Oh, i wanna get Heavenly Sword also, that looks too cool. Damn, I gotta get Rainbow six also, oh wait, Tekken 6 I HAVE to get, i know its gonna look sweet by the time it comes out, but wait, I gotta get COD3, that game looks too damn good!! WOW PS3, you got one hell of a lineup. I want to get all of them, but will probably buy 3. Motorstorm, Fall of Man, and Tekken 6. I will buy the rest a little later.

Keep dreaming, Resistance is just another FPS like Doom or Quake. GOW is not even a complete ist person shooter it's something new and very fresh and very immersive. PS3's RFOM" is a shoot-em up; standard FPS, while GOW has Holly Wood action gameplay; sick online play, vehicals the player will use in the game, voice reconition ect. ect. ect., ect!. It's not even in the same ball park as GOW, GOW is an true evolution of it's genre, matter of fact it's a new genre lol. And (((Karibu))) PS3 has inferior format/BR in it; and the disc suck and it has been proven widly. And everybody knows when Sony works it out it Someday "could" be on par with HD-DVD.

then by that sentiment Halo 3 is just another fps, just like Doom, Quake and now Resistance. you're totally looking at this from the jaded perspective of a fanboy. try being a TRUE GAMER for a while, and you're relize that Resistance (along with Halo 3 and GOW) looks great. in any event i have no doubt GOW will be a great game...maybe not quite as original as fanboys would make it out to appear (from the pictures i've seen its gameplay looks like GRAW on sci-fi steroids). but as a 360 owner i'm definately looking foward to it...probably moreso than Halo 3, which so far looks to offer nothing anymore original than Halo 2 did, which offered nothing anymore original than Halo did, which...i'm quite sure you get my gist. you say all this stuff about GOW as if you're part of the development team, or as if Resistance is incapable of having the exact same things (or maybe even better). going strictly off of the developers' resumes' both games have excellent teams behind them. based off the pics i've seen, yes GOW looks better, but by all means that doesn't mean Resistance doesn't look good/great either.

usually when PS3 fanboys rant about how 360 fanboys are nervous about 360's chances of winning against the PS3 by constantly posting in PS3 articles, i disregard them. but you're kinda proving them right. just maybe 360 fans are nervous about the 360's chances in light of PS3 arrival, thats why all the 360 articles hardly have any 360 fan comments, while all the PS3 articles are riddled with 360 fanboy criticism. i mean, why even bother reiterating your point about Blu-ray, which has absolutely NOTHING to do with this article, if you weren't deep down troubled about the 360's prospects?

the fact remains that Prey and Chromehounds were to be the summer blockbusters for the 360, enough to make me actually go out and buy the system for them. luckily for me i got GRAW and Oblivion, and am eagerly awaiting GOW, cause Prey sucked and Chromeshound's best review was like 7.2 out of 10. you, however, followed your own advice about Prey despite the droves of 360 fans who said it would be the next best thing this side of air-freshner. why not do the same with the PS3? droves of 360 fans slam it; that doesn't mean that it will actually suck. you let web-based gaming media (who all thrive on naught but the latest crave...now its Sony hating), and misinformed 360/anti-Sony fanboys dictate what you think about the PS3, despite the fact that it has some excellent games on the horizon, Resistance the least of which. you talk about Blu-ray as if its the only thing that matters: the games are what matter, not egotistically arrogant executives, unproven formats and corporate names.

ps3 does not even exist yet so stop biggin it up. i have a pc & 360 which are both good, admitedly the 360 does not have many killer games out yet, but they will come. ps3 will be same no great games for while ( like ps2 and every other console ). as for the 40 people online, i played battlefield 1942 about 4 years ago with 64 players.

i probably will get a ps3 and wii cos i love games. it's ok to like more than 1 console so sony fans remove your head from your arse and stop been so pathetic, it's like a play school argument of my dad could beat the crap out of your dad! get a grip
