Mass Effect 2 Surprise Coming Tomorrow w/ New Revamp Site

We've been teased by Bioware last week that there will be a Mass Effect 2 surprise coming this week. Well, to give you the exact day on when to expect that surprise, tomorrow is the day Mass Effect 2 fans are looking for.

I know you might have been joking but in all honesty, it would only benefit us all if they actually did release it for all systems. Why? Simply put, with the massive layoffs EA has been experiencing, they need all the revenue they can get and without it, they will begin to cancel new IP's and go with the same battle plan that Activision has, sequel after sequel, after sequel. If you want whats best for you and your gaming, you all need to support multiplatform games.

very true unless MS is providing some sort of incentive (i.e. money) to keep the game exclusive. I think Sony paid to keep MGS4 exclusive forever. Same may've happened here. It's not like MS is frugal when it comes to securing exclusivity and this is perhaps one of the most anticipated 360 games next to Halo Reach. To lose it would be pretty major.

With the poor quality of Dragon Age Origins on the 360 I hope that is not the case. Bioware need to keep this in the oven and continue to improve on it.. If it has the same performance/graphics of DA:O on the 360 it will be a let down. I will still enjoy it because of the great story and characters but it will be like the first one.. An almost masterpiece that fell short due to technical issues.

Bioware developed Dragon Age for the PC primarily so its really no surprise that the 360 and PS3 got the lesser version.
Mass Effect 2 on the other hand is a totally different story, devs have ironed out the technical kinks and have tweaked the engine.
How are the gfx all that bad for Dragon Age anyways?!? The sheer amount of content totally overshadows the importance of graphics, the art direction more than makes up for it. Dragon Age also runs quite smooth on the 360, I'm about 25hrs into it and have it installed on the HDD, quick load times and smooth as butter.

Mass Effect 2 will be just like Mass Effect 1 except better in every possible way with technical issues left in the dust with Mass Effect 1. I have no doubts that Bioware has addressed these issues. Its just disappointing how you have to be so negative. Think positive, things will be better off for you.

I called Mass Effect just short of a masterpiece. Not sure how much more positive you want me to be. But if it involves lying to myself than no thanks.

Dragon Age suffers from bad jaggies and frame rate on the 360. Read the reviews if you want a second opinion.. There is a reason why the 360 version is the lowest scoring of them all.

I have high hopes for ME so I hope they did work out all the kinks. If they didn't, they won't hear the end of it.

I was referring to having a positive attitude towards how Mass effect 2 will be. Why would you even think that the graphics would be the same as Dragon Age? There have been videos released and pics and they all obviously look much better than Dragon Age.
Dragon Age looks fine, nothing oustanding of course but it definitely doesn't look bad... jaggies? Hmmm didn't really get out my magnifying glass so I couldn't tell ya.
The frame rate on the 360 version is smooth, The PS3 version is the one with a frame-rate drop. I wasn't expecting the console versions of Dragon Age to look amazing anyways, I was just happy the game was available on consoles. I have read and seen many reviews and in person experience, I have the game installed on my HDD and I am 25hrs into it, I haven't noticed any frame-rate drops and the gfx are fine. The graphic fidelity may not be sharp but the art direction is good.

Bioware has always listened to its fans and their feedback, they aren't sloppy developers, like I said before I have no doubt whatsoever that Mass Effect 2 will be an improvement on every level over Mass Effect 1. You seem to have the vibe of a 'doubting Thomas'.

...and actually BUY the games you DO have for the PS3. It's pretty damn pathetic that EVERY SINGLE EXCLUSIVE on the PS3, has been largely ignored, compared to exclusives on the 360. All you do is TALK about all of the "AAA exclusives" for your favorite console...and then less than 10% actually bother BUYING them. Yet, you'll spend countless hours scouring the internet for news of a 360 exclusive possibly jumping to the PS3....even though you'll never buy it anyway....just because you're so insecure about your console purchase.

Played Mass Effect on the PC (you know, the superior one without the horrible framerate) and didn't bother to finish it. Hey, I didn't like it. In fact, I don't like RPGs at all.

And that's great, great numbers for a great game. The thing is, some PS3 exclusives sell over a million copies in a month too or even 2-3 in their lifetime (Motorstorm, Resistance ect). The hardcore 360 fanboys will still call these a flop though 'cause they didn't do these numbers in 1 week.

Then they can't admit that no other 360 game besides Gears and Halo do these numbers in their lifetime anyway and say "PS3 owners don't support their games". It just pisses me off...it's the same thing over and over...

It's not going to be something simple like a new website or box art, otherwise they wouldn't bother announcing that there's going to be an announcement. Also, if you remember from the original rumor posting, the poster stated that this was top-secret at Bioware so it's going to be something important. I'd say that the best guesses are that it'll be a Demo or going multi-plat. I personally have my fingers crossed for multi-plat, and that's the only reason why I'm following this story. The truth is, that unless there is an airtight exclusivity deal, I can't imagine that they won't be porting this game. Every time someone mentions anything about a rumor or announcement, PS fans go wild hoping that this game will come to their system, if they can't see that there's a market for this game on the PS3 then they're blind.

Also, it takes thirty seconds to change a disc, sure, but that's also followed by loading; God forbid you have to do any backtracking. I think a lot of developers are going to start learning from naughty dog though and figure out that it's not a bad idea to have a small install that removes itself every time you exit the game. Most games with large installs are multiplats originally designed for the Xbox and that's because they have to basically install an xbox/pc emulator on the PS3 in order for the game to function, eventually that will end as more developers get up to speed with how the PS3 works. I imagine that first party devs will give tips to second party devs and second party devs will give tips to 3rd party devs until eventually the industry as a whole catches up with the system, which they haven't yet done. It took long enough for devs to even start using all of the PS3's resources, now that they are, it'll take them a while before they figure out how to use them most efficiently.

On a different point, I see a lot of people go back and forth about whether or not N4G has more PS or Xbox fanboys, from what I can tell, there may be more PS fan boys, but the Xbox fan boys have far worse personalities. They're just plain rude. I'll admit, I only own a PS3, and owned a PS1 and 2 before that, but I'm not a fanboy because I don't hate Xbox. Halo 3 is my favorite FPS, hands down (even over KZ2 to this day, why? cause it's more loose and fun and I want to play 4p split screen at home with my buds), and obviously I fell in love with mass effect by playing at a friends place. There's nothing wrong with preferring one system over the other, but the success of one does not preclude the success of the other, and there's no reason to get upset because one system "stole" the other's exclusive. I think it's great the Xbox fans will get to play final fantasy, and I'll be so happy if I get a chance to play ME2 on my PS3. Xbox has been very important to the console gaming industry if only because Microsoft is a network company and so they know how to provide good network services, hence Xbox live changing the way we play with others online. I still prefer PS because sony, being a hardware company, has made a much more powerful system, but I thank MS for keeping Sony on their toes with the networking.
