Rumour: Haze PS3 Exclusive

Jeuxvideo reports that at the Ubisoft conference, Haze, the FPS developed in the studios of Free Radical, will be exclusive to the Playstation 3.

For the moment though, it appears that this is most likely going to be a timed exclusive. But it will be necessary to wait tomorrow more on this subject.

Concerning the play in itself, the developers showed a new trailer and explained the scenario: Mantel is a group which controls the world, the oil industry and the pharmaceutical industry. Mantel also produces a very powerful drug.

The game is due out this year.

An exclusive only matters if it can influence a person's decision to buy a console AND there are no substitutes/alternatives with the competition.

Haze is just a shooter. They're a dime a dozen. You'll find great substitutes on the XBOX 360 and Ps3.

As for timed exclusives....they are going to become as normal as multiplatforming. Developers are in a win win situation getting extra cash for the exclusivity on one console then further cash with sales on the opposition's machine.

They aren't going to miss out on sales to fanboys who will never buy "THE OTHER" console. Simple business practise here.

The title is "Haze en exclusivité sur Playstation 3" - which means Haze is exclusive for the PS3.

"Ubisoft a confirmé que Haze, le FPS développé dans les studios de Free Radical, sortira en exclusivité sur Playstation 3." then it goes onto say that Ubisoft confirmed that Haze....is an exclusive for the PS3.

"Pour le moment, on nous indique qu'il devrait s'agir d'une exclusivité temporaire." - for the moment, it is most likely a temporary exclusive (loose translation).

Anyway...I wouldn't say this is confirmed, even though the translation is correct. I have a feeling that they just have a PS3 playable build (which is true), but noones sure if it's an exclusive or not.

Have you seen those screenshots? This game rivals the visuals for Crysis and frankly made Halo3 look cartoony and very last Gen.

Halo isn't the end all and be all you know. With all due respect to the game because it is great, the reason it was so successful is because Xbox owners had nothing else to play until Splinter Cell came out. It was a long time between drink. Thank God I had other consoles as well to keep me busy.

PS, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark and Timesplitters are probably the best multiplayer shooters of all time as far as options and customisation go. Halo doesn't even do Bots. You might just like this game if it comes to Xbox or if you ever become a real gamer and buy more than one console.

Hey just because it irritates you that some people point out Halo all the time or YOU feel its over-hyped, still doesn't make your opinion a reality for many, many original xbox owners who enjoyed alot of great games besides Halo "before" SC came along. Also your theory seems flawed because if:

Dude, I did say with all due respect, because the game is great. I should have worded the next part better. I shouldn't have said "the reason it was so successful", I should have said, ONE of the reasons owing to its success, because I do believe the lack of good games in Xboxes early days was a contributing factor. In all fairness to me, I didn't say it was the only reason. After all the game is great. I went and bought an xbox as soon as I saw it.

I just dont see why we need clowns like knight acting all blase about a great looking game coming out, because he can't see past his precious Halo which isn't, as I pointed out, the end all and be all.

Thats all my point was. I'm not attacking Halo. Its not my absolute favourite shooter but its still one of the best. I can remember when people used to call every FPS a "Doom clone" and it used to sh*t me as if you weren't allowed to make another game in the same genre.

I played the first halo, and unlike many ppl, I didnt think it was that great.

Was decent enough fps wise, but enemies were crap, and actually looked pretty stupid.

Shane (big Sony fanboy) said that there would be a surprise announcement concerning Haze very soon (might have said E3 haha).

Someone then asked if it wasn't going to be multiplatform and Shane responded by saying that isn't correct.

These guys are usually pretty reliable so chances are it will be multi but maybe a timed exclusive.

To be honest, Ubisoft are being pretty intelligent.

They are taking everyone's money! Money from Microsoft for Splinter Cell which is a guaranteed big seller whilst also breaking a new IP with Sony's money (if this turns out to be true, Beowulf?). Then release GRAW etc multiplatform and make huge profits on cheap incremental improvements in existing franchises.

I wouldn't be surprised if EA don't start a similar business model.

I finally checked this out and well....It looks pretty darn good!!!
Now I am also not foolish enough to beleive too much that comes out of the Ubisoft camp. I mean I fell for it with Assasins Creed and then they go all mutiny and give the 360 the exclusive rights to the next Splinter Cell. So quite frankly yeah, It looks like a great game (although that tint on the game reminds me of...shall I dare? ...MGS4), but I think eventually and unfortunately it will find it's way on the other console.
Any other developer and I would beleive it but since it's Ubisoft.....I'm not fallin' for it again.

But you never know. It's not looking good for Konami in terms of recouping expenses on the PS3. I imagine that this game was insanely expensive to make. Sony must be shelling out some heavy dough to keep that one exclusive.

The flipside to this is of course that MGS2 didn't sell for sh!t on the original Xbox, so maybe they're not sure about sales on the 360. However, I wouldn't be surprised if most games nowadays will only be timed exclusives (minus those published by Sony or MS).

This game would probably just get lost in a sea of FPS's on Xbox.

Making it exclusive for PS3 isn't as dumb as it sounds. Not only are we hungry for good games and likely to buy anything thats good, but we will appreciate a good Dev (Free Radical is all the talent from Rare, by the way) showing us some genuine luvin'.

This game isn't coming out soon. If PS3 has anywhere from 5-10 million sold by then theres still plenty of potential for big sales. I think Exclusives will start to come back once each consoles userbase is out of the "Infant" stage.

Well the game is scheduled for September, and by then there will be quite a few great PS3 games (and PS3 owners). However, none of them are FPS...or even online games at all. Haze would have that market to itself on PS3. The only other PS3 shooter scheduled for 2007 that has potential to be good is Killzone. Not only will it be released later, no one knows exactly what to expect from it. Where we stand now, Haze would definitely find a lot of buyers on the PS3.

If Killzone is revealed at E3 and lives up to the hype, Haze might be in trouble. It would take a lot to persuade me into passing this game up though. Everything from gameplay, to graphics, to the developer has me wanting this game badly.

ITs got stupid characters, stupid storyline, it uses aim adjust way to much TS 3 is the only game i know of where you shoot someones foot with a sniper rifle and you get an head shot 50% of the time.

Golden eye was good because rare had to do with that, the people that created the levels..ect at rare left and made Free radical but all the story writers...ect didn't and thats why TS1-3 sucked.

anyway, i've been following Haze for a long time now, and i think it *LOOKS phenomenal for sure, and i actually have high hopes for the gameplay, as Free Radical makes some really good games. the Timesplitters series was really good.

i also loved Secon Sight, but i think that was developed by Codemasters.

This is definately a weak rumor because this will not be a exclusive to the PS3. The Sixaxis control will be exclusive to the PS3(Duh) but the game is going to be on the 360 and PC. It will still sell well even against Halo 3. I played Halo 3 and was very underwhelmed.. I really hope they pull off a fantastic single player campaign as this is what I most looking forward too(in H3)People seem to think these games are available for a few weeks and then disappear. The game will still be on shelves even after the Halo 3 buzz is worn off and it will sell.

Come on now, don't hate on Haze because you *think* it's exclusive to PS3. I can guarantee it's coming to PC and 360 as the devs have said, but the PS3 is the main development platform, and it will most likely have been a bought timed exclusive by Sony.
