For the most part the AI in the Halo games are pretty bad. Aliens do nothing but hide or just rush you and the only thing that makes Legendary mode harder is that they all deal way more damage.

The friendly AI is absolutely useless as I have seen a Marine looking in the opposite direction of a brute shooting at him from 2 feet away until he was killed by said Brute.

AI when it comes to driving just either get you killed in 3 seconds don't know where its going or just drives off a cliff.

that was a pretty retarded movie. The AI driver was definitely on something lol. I think with the amount of time given to polish this title and its predecessor halo3... you would think Bungie would have figured to "script" the driving sessions by now if they can't get the AI to work.

This does not show POLISH usern4g. It is a mediocre "that's close enough" mentality that Bungie is demonstrating (especially given they are a 1st party turned 2nd party studio) There is no "high watermark" when the 4th version of this game still has the game AI driving you off the cliff.

And as for those laughing at that footage, your idiots. Simply because how the AI driver behaves is due to a number of things, including enemy position, position of real time debris (smashes up ghost or structure etc..) and whether or not the enemy is shooting at the vehicle.

I prefer to drive in Halo anyway because the AI are better on the turret than i am, i have better judgment and evasive skills, and i dont stop everytime a new enemy steps out from behind cover.

I agree that driving marines with you on the gun suck.
But the enemy AI is great in halo.
They will dive into cover and protect their leader.
The leader of the pack can order things to every individual AI like trow a grenade or You 2, go look over there to scout the area.
They can smash incoming grenades out of the air.
They can board your vehicle and use quipement and there's nothing wrong with the enemy's vehicle usage.
Grunts will scatter and flee when you kill their leader.
Brutes can get pissed and trow their weapon away and go in beserk mode.
When a hunter sees his bond brother fall he will roar in rage and run at you trying to smash you in pieces.
That, and there are tons of different types of enemies who all have thousands of pieces of combat dialogue. I've been playing Halo 3 for 2 years and i still hear new ones.

According to the Guerrilla interview on KZ2 friendly Ai... the pre-dumbed down friendly AI would clear the levels before you could throw in your two cents. In order to make the game about "you", they had to tone down the AI and give you more to do. It wasn't because they couldn't design a good AI. Play Kz2 on elite and you'll see what I mean, the enemy AI is extremely good and it has very little to do with them being 'crack' shots. The way they pair up by spreading out to flank and pin you is exactly how your friendly AI would be with full AI capabilities. The AI is extremely good at flushing you out and killing you if you don't have a next move.

the "fly" thing shoot off two to three bullets then rest on the nearest wall for a 3 to 4 second nape. giving you the chance to shoot him down.... This is great AI???

just becasue you beat HALO on Lengendary mode does not mean the AI is Great. this is a lazy dev prop. instead of the dev giving the AI a new type of gun on the succeeding hardest mode like R1/R2 did; they bow out and make one hit sniper kills or half an enemie clip kills. lazy DEV in my opinion. HAlo has 4 types of enemies. a scarey cat,a rhino,wasp and a elephante. it not hard to defeat them when their AI is mush....

When you talk AI start with FEAR and work your way backwards. Bungie will do the same thing with Reach... why change if people will buy this sheeit as is!!!

Wow anyone who has played online knows this sh!t happens even with real life players in halo 3. Good thing i always turret in online because my warthog racing skills arent that great. Not as bad as this AI but if seen worse online or he was just trying to lose the match on purpose.

The driving AI has always been horrible in halo. That's why I never let them drive when i play campaign.
