Nintendo Comments on Status of Virtual Console, Internet, and Nintendo Channel Updates

Word got out recently that Nintendo had said they were no longer going to be supporting the Virtual Console, nor updating the Internet Channel and Nintendo Channel. Nintendo has since responded to the matter to clear the air on their stance regarding these programs.

VC was one of the only things that kept me from selling my Wii. After all, where else can you get so many retro games in one place? Now that Ninty is leaning away from it...I'm probably going to sell my little white box. Screw you Nintendo.

If people are only buying VC games, then it shows that people love the classics more than Nintendo's new casual crap, which they (Nintendo) obviously wouldn't be too happy about.

By cutting support for the VC and focusing on WiiWare, they can force people to play their casual crap and there's nothing anyone could do about it. Think BC and the PS3.

That said, it would be stupid for them to do this. Core gamers love VC because it takes them back to the good ol' days of gaming, when it was about gameplay and music, not graphics.

Ah the SNES and the early to mid 90's, truly the golden age of gaming.

That said, VC is for old titles, WiiWare isn't. There are only so many VC titles to be released. We may have seen the last big one from Nintendo with Majora's Mask. Doesn't mean we still won't see titles come out, but the big guns have already mostly been shot.

seriously ... nintendo is not going to pass on easy money. It costs practically nothing to convert for VC. It's basically a legal rom format.It still feels like to me nintendo, sega, SNK and numerous other gaming companies would be stupid to throw in the towel on VC. Which is why we shall probably continue to see tons of VC releases throughout the wii generation. Though If we don't see Starfox soon.... I'm going to bust some serious heads. Not to mention... I hardly think 20 odd N64 releases even comes close to the number of quality titles of that generation. In my opinion.. F pining for goldeneye and Perfect dark... Its obvious by now that most people are too stupid or lazy to read and comprehend the article. News sites/papers/websites/ etc. know this and write a catchy headline to draw in interest.

Yes the fault is with the people not reading the article but blame is to be put on the headline writer also. It is also the RESPONSIBILITY for the editors/moderators at N4G to realize this and either not post the article, or make the appropriate editing changes to show the true conten.

This article is paramount to some moron making up some story and posting it on a BLOG. I mean, I could create a blog, make up a fake post, attribute a few fake sources, publicize it, post it and BLAM...internet CONTROVERSY.
