Borderlands 4 marks the franchise’s boldest evolution yet, introducing a non-linear campaign structure, a new world called Kairos, and an antagonist who controls time itself. Built on Unreal Engine 5, the game enhances weapon customization, expands endgame content, and brings back familiar characters in surprising ways. Sector spoke with producer Chris Brock and lead writer Taylor Clark about the engine switch, narrative shifts, and how they aim to balance chaos with control.
I think some of the marketing for BL2 was similar. It probably has to do with all possible combinations of guns and gun parts you can find.
So is this like the original vision for Borderlands, where you mix and match gun parts, but then later was changed for some reason.

Hopefully much better writing. Handsome Jack was brilliant when BL2 first launched, but it really went down in 3. I couldn't stand the direction it took.
I Platinumed BL2 on PS3, PS4, Vita and was even working on doing it again on PSVR2. It became a game I could continuously return to, like Skyrim. I never played more than 10 hours of BL3. It just didn't click with me.
UE5... There goes any reasonable hope of decent and steady performance.
