Apple blames hot iPhones on the weather, others find oleophobic screen to be fleeting?

"Don't worry, everybody, your iPhone baking itself to a crisp is no cause for panic, now that Apple has found the culprit: the weather and your heartless negligence. Apparently you've been leaving your brand new iPhone 3GS in a hot car, and the warm sensation you feel any time you hold the phone has nothing to do with beefed up processors or inadequate cooling. Phew, glad that's all sorted and now nobody will have any problems with self-destructive iPhones they paid hundreds of dollars for. Besides, it serves you right.

Meanwhile, hapless Samsas Traum has found a problem of his own (pictured) that's sure to be blamed on some other act of god in the near future by Apple's spin team: the oleophobic coating is getting rubbed right off his screen. Apparently he has a bit of a fondness for a certain "Flick Fishing" app, which explains the highly localized nature of his oleophobic destruction. We haven't heard many other reports of a similar nature, but we'll keep an eye out for telltale Tap Tap Revenge markings on the iPhones of our rhythm-addled loved ones."

Just like Apple to say this. What would be smart is that they just accept they goofed. Faster processor + faster phone + no air holes + SAME 3G design = fail. It would be smart to just recall asap instead of waiting for someone to get burned and/or a phone catching on fire then a big lawsuit happens.

Apple saying that its the heats fault just makes them look stupid at releasing a product, especially a phone and have that breaking just cause "its to hot outside." Pathetic

Any ipod/iphone running on 3.0 runs out of battery redidulously fast.
to put it in contrast
on 2.2.1 i could listen to my ipod in bed and wake up with about 3/4 of power left.

now when i wake up using 3.0 its completly different.

the ipod also gets very very hot at times so i have to give it breaks. I tried to downgrade to 2.2.1 but that just screwed it up and ended up screwing my itunes up too. so im stuck with 3.0... apple, plz come out with a fix!

Well, I have to say that for the GPUs, they were right to blame nvidia. I had a 8600m GT in my PC, similar to what apple had in their macbook pros at the time, and the card was at fault. Mine died very quickly and I'm not the only one who had a problem with nvidia's 8XXXm series.

I saw my friends HP Dv2700 (nVidia 8400m gs)die infront of me, first there were 8 mini screens popping up, games locking after every 4-5mins and bang it stopped showing video after that!! :S
I had the DV2700 special edition, sold it (in perfect working condition) on ebay next day, didnt want to risk it. Nvidia screwed us up well.

i've had my dv9535nr for two years, no problems. but yes i was terrified to read all the horror stories.

my advice to those who are worried, grab the service manual for your laptop and tear it down to the motherboard. pull off the heatpipe assembly and just add some good old artic silver heat compound. my gpu had NONE, it was getting pretty warm (70c). and then after i did that it shaved off a cool 10c on full load (60c load, 40c idle).

the same goes for just about any other device really, if you don't mind working on your device just add some heat compound. of course don't do it if it's still under warranty.

Edit: Thing is...I never labeled you a fan boy. The Jasper 360's are not more than 6-8 months old; the inclusion of HDMI doesn't make it one. Vista "sucks" if you have a laptop as it drains the battery much more than XP. Name one thing about Vista currently that service packs haven't fixed? I have used Vista and 7 and can say that 7 is an great; highly recommend. Why would you not have Live? You only have half an Xbox without it:-p If you have a job, I shouldn't have to get into a price argument with you. I pay $100 a month for cable and internet, $3 more a month isn't a drop in the bucket.

I own a 360 with hdmi, idk which one it is. I don't have xbox live gold on it and never will. btw it broke 2 times and it's been 1 year.

Windows 7, never tried it but vista = FAILBOAT!

I have a PS3, and no 360, and i PREFER the PS3, but I won't say it IS better as a fact. It depends on the person.

Vista got a bad rep because of sore customers who bought "Vista Capable" PCs and were too turned off with the plain Home Basic edition of Vista that they upgraded to Home Premium and tried to run Aero, which is a "Premium Ready" feature. So it's not Microsoft's fault that their PCs were underpowered. Microsoft did their job, the Vista architecture is new, stable, secure, and awesome. You have to expect that this comes with a need to upgrade. And if you don't need flashy GUI or graphics, then just get Home Basic or keep Home Premium and change your theme!

As for Xbox 360, it's not crappy hardware at all. I'm not letting MS off the hook for RRoD, but fanboys have played it to death with their exaggerated stories. I had a launch 360 from June 2006 until October 2008, when I bought my 60GB. I gave my old 360 to my cousin for Xmas and he hasn't called me back yet about if failing. We game on XBL whenever we're online at the same time.

The reason your batteries are running out so fast is because your running stuff that you dont need running. Turn wifi off when your not using it it gives you at least 4 hours extra batteries life. Or turn off other crap like that.
