Console Heroes: Retail Game Solutions to Expensive Arcade Games Part 1

Console Heroes writes: "You may have noticed the grumbling going around about the price of Xbox Live Arcade titles of late. We had an article about it a couple months ago, Flea and others have blogged about it, and there's even a social group here on Console Heroes now devoted to crusading against expensive games. Flea even started a petition to Microsoft pleading for a reevaluation of XBLA prices. As Flea and I have been discussing all the recent games priced at 1200 points – and a couple at 1600 – we came to a conclusion: why just complain about it? Why not come up with a better solution for our fellow heroes here on Console Heroes? I mean, if we're not paying $20 for arcade games, what should we spend that money on? And what kind of experience will we get instead?

With that in mind I'm going to examine a few of the pricier arcade titles on the marketplace today and compare them to some very similar retail games that you could pick up for the same price – or less. Today will feature part one of our short series of retail game alternatives to expensive XBLA titles..."

Torrents are there. I actually have the original CD's from NOLF 2, never going to part with them.😁

3D Dot Game heroes. Good luck

__y2jb111d ago

I have this. Never even realised it had become rare.

staticall110d ago

@Cacabunga
While i have a disc with the game, i was able to find it on a torrent ru tracker with at least 3 people seeding right now and it was downloaded 450+ times.

I wouldn't send a link (so i wouldn't get banned). But, i think, torrent or P2P are probably the last mostly reliable way to find old games no one cares about. I was able to find «Fable» there. Not the Lionhearts' Fable, but very old point-n-click adventure.

Need NOLF Remaster from Nightdive.

PRIMORDUS110d ago

NOLF 1+2 remaster for me = instant buy

Abnor_Mal111d ago

I still have my PS3 copy of Spec Ops, Battlefield Bad Company 1&2 & Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1/2.

Planning to replay those and a few others, but the controls feel so loose now compared to modern games.

Chocoburger111d ago

Change the title to: Amazing Games That Have Been Abandoned by Stupid Publishers Who Don't Care About their Legacy, so You Should Pirate and Enjoy them.

Okay, maybe that title was a bit too long. 😅

NotoriousWhiz111d ago

Amazing abandoned games that you should ARRRR.

DafunkyRebel111d ago

I missed out on the chance to buy BFBC1 on Xbox and I just want to kick myself silly. One of the best PS3 experience of my life. The feeling, impact, sound design of this game was leagues better than BF games that followed

Pour one out for Transformers Devastation

I lost my physical copy in a move, it still bothers me to this day 😅😔

Used to love this one, but X-Men Legends 1 and 2 will always be my favorites, especially Rise of Apocalypse. Would pay some good money to play it today with online multiplayer, back then I had no way to get a modem

RavenWolfx428d ago

Yeah, I loved the Legends games so much.

ZeekQuattro428d ago

I remember buying them dirt cheap on the PS4 and then a few days later I read they were delisted. I was wondering why the bundle was price so low and got my answer when that happened.

Knightofelemia428d ago (Edited 428d ago )

Sad to say this is one game franchise next to the Xmen that needs a sequel. I use to play the hell out of Xmen Legends and Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Was great when my cousin had the OG Xbox play with four other people and then playing online. Great games glad to see it reappear even though I own the discs love the mechanics of this game.

Terry_B428d ago

It got a sequel..but for dumbass #reasons as a switch exclusive.

shinoff2183428d ago

It looked so horrible to. They should've kept it similar to the first two.

Asplundh428d ago

Because Nintendo funded it, they did the same for Bayonetta.

Knightofelemia428d ago

I totally forgot about the Switch sequel.

MasterChief3624427d ago

I thought it looked awful, but I actually fell in love with it. To this day one of my favorites on the Switch.

Misleading. This page is whats available for people who owned the game prior to delisting.

MasterChief3624427d ago

Yeah I'm kind of miffed about that headline. But the information in the article does give me a little hope. I really want to play these games on the PS5! I would assume if Activision actually is planning on relisting them on the Xbox Store, it would be relisting them on the PS Store as well?

Abnor_Mal428d ago

The first game was the best imo.
