When Grand Theft Auto came about, it set a huge trend. After the arrival of GTA3 on the Playstation 2 there was a huge wave of sandbox titles; the genre became very popular. As someone who is highly appreciative of sandbox games myself, I decided to write up a list of five great sandbox games that I enjoy. Check it out and leave comments; It would be cool to see what you guys think also.
There are some games on the PS2 that really pushed the capabilities of the PS2 itself to their limits.
Did they really skip Shadow of the Colossus? I would definitely swap Dark Cloud for that.
god of war 2 looked better than most of the launch games, just like last of us 1 ,kz2 and god of war 3 looking better than a bunch of launch ps4 games, and kz2 for reason looks just as good in 2024, that game had some black magic
Agreed. I sometimes watch multiplayer videos of it. Best FPS i have ever played. It’s the game that initiated me to the genre. It has a special place in my all time favorite top3

There is a rumour that Driver 1 & 2 remasters will be released for Switch and presumably for other systems as well.

Splinter Cell is likely to be one of the remasters launching next year (not sure whether this has to do anything with the remake previously announced)

Yeah, read the news about a new Virtua Fighter and I am so ready for it. Splinter Cell at this point I don't believe anything Ubisoft says plus I don't think modern day Ubisoft can make a decent stealth game. They will likely fuck it up.
Scarface great? True Crime great? Saints Row 2 great? If Oblivion counts are free roam, might as well throw in Fallout 3 and Morriwind and the other GTA's. Poor list in my opinion. I can name 100 games better.
