Official Document of HOME - You can Auction User-Created Content

Here are the official details given to developers on Sony's new HOME. Here is a summary of the most interesting features;

- HOME is planned to come to PSP's and Mobiles,
- There is an integrated friends list,
- User-created content can be made,
- There will be an auction service for you to sell your Home assets and user-created content to gain revenue,
- Users can meet in Home and seemlessly launch a multiplayer game,
- Users can exit games and go straight into Home,
- You can travel instantly to places via the world-map, or if you fancy a wander you can go by foot,
- Music can be "played" to other users in your space, but it cannot be "shared", that is it cannot be passed on
- Avatars will only resemble adults, not children
- Users can do whatever they like in Private Spaces
- Only users on your buddy list can enter your space
- Retailers (eg. GAME) can have their own lobbies for commercial operations.

Good! That one is very important. I like this Home thing it's nice and they say if you don't want to navigate through home, you can still use most of it's features through the XMB which is really good.

Roaming around town is good and all, but sometimes I just want to get to my destination to shop, play game, or whatever it is I feel like doing instantly.

I agree with AllroundGamer that its a rip off having to pay money to MS just to play online . Charge for extra for XBLA games , movies ,tv etc but not for online play on a game you just paid £39.99 for..that just SuX .

into this home thing, the more impressive it sounds... People talk about what a waste of time it would be to do all the customizing but when you can actually make money doing something fun... Another important note about Home is that Sony is going to include all of the community features (grouping, etc) outside of the Home arena. A lot of (fanboyish) people in the media have been expressing a concern about having to wander around Home to accomplish things that can be done easier with a simple interface. Home is only going to act as an alternate method to accomplishing those tasks, plus a huge number of other tasks.

In other words, Sony plans on enabling you to create groups with network friends on the XMB instead of MAKING you go into Home.

Personally, I'm going to use this feature [Home] a lot. I just think it's really cool to be able to virtually hang out with your online friends in an area that also gives you all of these options for collaboration. Plus you get to show off your trophies, video highlights, virtual house, and share your (pirated, lol) music and movies!

Also, I'm to understand that purchases will be made with real money. Does this mean that I can make money by creating something in Home? Wow...I guess I need to sharpen my Photoshop skills and begin making virtual paintings.

Man, i like this Home thing. I was gonna get xboxlive, but now that i'm getting my ps3 next week, i think that i'm going to get ps3online and this thing called Home. DANM SONY is doing a great job, i think that ps3fans r going to have a great time! and by the way 360fans, maybe live is better than ps3online right now, but u never know about tomorow.

let's say you're over your friends place or drinking coffee at starbucks and your talking to someone about your "home" and you log in through wifi and show them because you're tapping into your ps3.you show them your achievments ant how your pad looks in 3d.not just stale text.and you can stream music,movies or games from your home.that just smells like what the rock is cooking.that would be just incredible.live anywhere would look small compared to this.even miis.

what if sony has never before seen video of games or movies just for the ps3 owners at the theatre.playing games from home on psp while on the toilet(haha!).going to the capcom area and chatting with devs that look like mega man or zombies from resident evil.playing games like little big planet and having to ride and control a sailboat in rough sea together with real physics and your mission is to aquire a rare item for your home so that you can show others.it's just endless and more promising than any other online service.AND IT IS FREE.

how can microsoft have billions of dollars and charge people for online when online has been and is free for millions on pc?on ps2.on wii and ds and psp.it just doesn't make sense anymore.you can bet a drop in price of live or free live before this fall.

or maybe you could catch the 9:00pm show and sit with other people and discuss it with other gamers.something like that.catch it on your psp while your logging in wirelessly into your HOME where ever you are in the world that has wifi.

going to the polyphony digital room and seeing the premiere of GT5.and for showing up,you get logged in to receive 5 dollars off in the mail from sony towards GT5 purchase.or a rare car that no one else has.but you get what i'm saying?

if this works,it would just be a great addition to what is already a cool system.

yeah that's what i meant, the possibilies are nearly limitless for the Home system. But i'm a little afraid of the server performance, to handle so much information of so many users.

Each lobby at this moment in time can support 64 users...that's going to increase. You can of course have friends lists...but there will be other servers, so it is entirely scalable. Read the official document...all your questions will be answered (almost)

ALso your pad will be running on your ps3 and not on the servers...if you invite people back to your pad then they will be "running" on your ps3...that's how I interpret the document at the moment...that may change because they say they are seeing whether they can get pads to stay constant even when you're not on your ps3...

Also...anybody else realised that both Microsoft and Nintendo could set up pads...and display there games...surely not..

Avatars will cover every race. Your hair is your choice.

The only thing ruled out is being a child. Avatars must be adults.

Though in your private spaces you may be able to be game characters, eg. hellgast, god of war, littlebigplanet things...in the future...

but ps3 and cell was made for this.if you look at your ps3 right now in the video section,the ps3 is playing, in real time, all your media thumbnails effortlessly.it's not even trying.i have tons on my ps3 and i can see them playing before looking at the video and clicking on it.and sony says that it can handle thousands.cell can handle 12 streams of high definition video without having a heart attack.pcs can't even do that.360 can't even do that.

so sony was thinking when creating ps3 to bring media to the user and try to sell the user something and let third parties show you something and let them try to sell what they got.it's the reason cell exists.not to just play games,but to stream media.i would expect them to already have, or are creating as we speak,cell based servers to handle all the large amounts of information packets.

but anyway,it should all be cool if it works and companies sponsor the service with advertising.if not,i would spent money to support this over any other service.(sony,don't be listening to what i say.keep it free.)
