Ben of Netto's Game Room tries out Sonic Racing CrossWorlds and shares his initial thoughts on the game.
I had a blast on this. Winning is not the easiest thing to do as people tend to go HAM on the final lap. The Mario Kart like sliding is cool but doesn’t feel like it boosts you enough. Cool items from the race crates and very clean graphics on PlayStation pro. Don’t know if there’s any differences but it looked and ran great to me. I loved the soundtrack and this game is FAST at times. Sega did a great job with the netcode too as I saw zero teleporting or anything that resembled a network issue. There were some bots in some of the matches, but they blended in with the real people. Overall I’d definitely get this if they time the release right. It’s got a lot of Mario Kart in it, but it’s got some originality in it as well.
Perfectly said!! It's crazy how great it played for a first test. Meanwhile Fatal Fury CotW was going on as well, and sadly every single match I jumped into was a slideshow. Such a big difference between tests
I had some good matches in CotW and I played that in my PC and on my PS5. I got matches FAR faster on my PS, matches with 3 bars ran the best, but overall I had a lot more good matches than bad.
I kept checking for the email as I so wanted to play this. But alas.... it sounds like a blast from what you described.
Seems really positive this is one I'll probably get on switch as that's just easier for multiplayer with the family over the ps5 I just wish I knew if it was going to be eligibility for a update to switch 2
Switch 2 seems like an obvious. And it may even be improved in the process. Sonic team is fun on switch, but only 30fps and this looks to be more flashy than that so it too could be 30 on switch. But on switch 2.... 60fps sounds plausible.
Chaotic Fun so far, connection is quite stable, all of the matches and not one that I got kicked due to loss of connection.

The previous game Sonic All Star Racing Transformed had real-life people on their roster. I hope they don't go by that route. They should stick to recently active IPs that we can relate to. I will be buying this game regardless, as I am a fan of their racing games. I have over 100 hours in Team Sonic racing, and I believe it is one of the most underrated racing games available.
Is there going to be some kind of campaign or mission mode? Can't believe so many racers don't bother having them these days.. there is/was an opportunity to outclass Mario Kart here.
I want to see comic characters from Fleetway and Archie
Scourge the Hedgehog, Evil Super Sonic, Ebony, Sally, Doctor Ovi Kintobor, Doctor Zachary, Shortfuse the Cybernik, Porker Lewis, Johnny Lightfoot, Tekno the Canary, Grimer
These are the games they should be using to get some of them into the spotlight, enough to introduce them so they can be used in future games.
Kinda hate this, TBH. I wish they would go back to the Sega fan-service which was Sonic & Sega All-Star Racing Transformed. Instead, they go for cross-over IPs for some easy quick bucks.
