Dragon Age: The Veilguard was never going to be one of those games that gets "fixed" with updates, but DLC could've let the devs tell their own story.
I know everyone hates this game, but I have had a blast with it. I enjoyed the combat, characters (for the most part), and the story. Not to mention the environments are beautiful. I like this game more than dragon age 2 or inquisition.
I’m still playing through Inquisition now but will hop into Veilguard after that. I was surprised when it was added to PS+ Essentials last month. I’ll see for myself if it deserves all the hate or not.
The best thing about options and people is. Things are allowed to cater to others and they enjoy it, and it’s equally okay if you don’t individually vibe with something.
What’s not okay is over criticizing something due to your personal bias and agendas. Campaigning against harmless things that don’t truly dictate anything in your life. I’m not into dragon age games, but I never once made an agenda to tell people how “bad” each iteration is because it didn’t click for me.
This game deserves nothing more than to be buried in the annals of history, only to resurface decades later as a cautionary tale of the astonishing foolishness that prevailed in 2024.
This game was a mockery to the Dragon Age series. I lost all faith in the series thanks to this one.
I can see not liking the change in combat but that’s about the only criticism I could give it and I actually had a blast as a veil jumper archer. To each his own I’m not saying it’s the greatest game ever but it’s my favorite dragon age game since origins
That's what people say about every new Dragon Age game. Many fans almost gave up on the series after Dragon Age 2. Even more stopped caring for Inquisition because despite the high reviews, fans of the original Bioware hated the gameplay. Some players never even left the first area "The Hinterlands".
Lots of the main Bioware team is gone from years ago. The site is silly if they want to fix it they would have to re-do everything.
They might as well make a new entry. They should take fan feedback rather than ignoring them to push an agenda.
Definitely didn't feel like a Dragon Age game.
I just don’t get that critique. Graphics were great, characters were great, story was great, and I liked the combat as well. Like I said to each his own. It sucks for the people who didn’t like it, but I really enjoyed it.
The characters were great? In what universe? They were thinly disguised activists shoehorned into a fantasy setting, prioritizing forced ideology over genuine storytelling. Calling them "great' is an insult to the art of character creation. They lacked depth, relatability, and purpose—a mess that even garbage would resent being compared to.
The DLC was supposed to feature a blond haired dude, with orange skin, that bans all woke nonsense from the game.
Bioware co-founder Greg Zeshuck has praised Dragon Age: The Veilguard, saying that lengthy gaps between game releases raise fan expectations.
Long gaps to an extent, but too long and you enter into impossible expectations and loss of interest. The balance is hard to allow for adequate development time and avoid over inflation of the product, but such a thing aa too long is absolutely a thing.
Dragon Age Veilguard I think was too long, especially after what we ended up getting. Mass Effect 5, if not canceled, will likely suffer a similar fate.
No it does not. There were no expectations for this game since pretty much nothing was ever really shown to increase hype....the only hype for this game was self generated because of the love of the franchise. It was nothing extreme...and yet they still failed.
There was more hype for anthem then for this game.
Who raised their expectations? People have been iffy with new BioWare games in general since they screwed up the ending of ME3 and they just got lower until Anthem really put us all on a downer
The fact it was so low and still got people disappointed showed you how bad this was.

The gap between Veilguard and Inquisition was an issue of course but the pressing problem was the lack of confidence towards Bioware after Andromeda and Anthem. These two games were to be pillars of Bioware's continued dominance in the RPG market. In the days since other RPG developers have come to take the center stage and push out Bioware. Obsidian, Bethesda, CDPR and Larian are among the many developers who have staked their claim since DA Inquisition launched.
In a post on Bluesky, a former writer for the Dragon Age franchise has plenty of things to say to EA after the publisher botched Dragon Age: The Veilguard and even blamed the lack of live service features on why it failed.
Especially Andrew Wilson this guy is next level greed. He is the one who introduced online passes for games where if you bought old copies you couldn't play online and he is the one behind the ultimate teams push that has made every sports game a casino
Next level greed is a prerequisite for being CEO of EA, lets not forget his predecessor John Riccitiello and his now famous quote "When you are six hours into playing Battlefield and you run out of ammo in your clip and we ask you for a dollar to reload, you’re really not that price sensitive at that point in time,"
EA are scum, pure and simple. If it wasn't for their monopoly on sports games and the cash cows they provide, they'd be in Ubi's position if not worse.
i don't think the dragon age team could have made something even close in quality to bg3. Last 2 games of Larian have been massive successes, now take a look at bioware Anthem and Veilguard and with how many people left bioware over the years I just don't think they have the talent there anymore.
Bioware do have the talent(or at least did since they got gutted) , it just depends on perspective. People see bg3 having unparalleled quality due to people’s perception of quality in a game, where more games than people think have an equivalent or even higher power level. People have yet to figure out perception it seems.
they got gutted before anthem, they got gutted during anthem, they got gutted after veilguard and they got gutted when the 2 doctors who created the company were basically forced out, so which gutting are you talking about? The people who were actually in charge of DA:O and the early mass effects aren't there anymore, since mass effect 3 they haven't created a hit game anymore, what more evidence do you need?
Also stop trying to imply BG3 isn't peak when it comes to quality, they did it before with DoS 2 and to a lesser degree with DoS 1. While improving as a studio they created some of the best games in the industry, compare it to bioware who literally HAD all the talent but couldn't create a good game since 2012 when ME3 came out.
How do you define quality exactly? There are games that do things better than BG3, and that do things BG3 doesnt. Too bad these games dont have health bars so we can really see.
You are going by your own idea of what a hit Bioware game is. There are people that think they havent created a hit since inquisition. Some think since Dragon Age:Origins.
I can see taking notes(especially in regards to the audiences interest), but I dont think they should follow Larian, as that is a bad idea. Trying to emulate them will just put Bioware in their shadow, as larian is singular in what they do. BioWare should focus on what they do that makes them stand out. Problem is they tried to do that, and people s*** all over it. The characters and your connection with them.
What Bioware excelled at and made them stand out in the past, they have not been good at in a long time.
Depends on what you look at in regards to bioware. I think the companions are well done, as I like them better than BG3 companions by a wide margin. Bioware still do the lore and world building well also. Even mass effect andromeda had some interesting lore teases to catch attention and make you think, like the anomaly and the benefactor of the Andromeda initiative ( Im pretty sure its Foster Addison).
They dont do the deep rpg mechanics thing anymore, but they havent done that since origins.
Oh, we absolutely need more of these Concord articles just to remind us why this game failed.

I was happy with the last two PS+ Essential Game Lineups too, but this one is a ton cooler. Owned TMNT Collection on PC already, but will most likely play it again on the bigger screen.
Is Dragon Age The Veilguard worth the time it probably needs? Liked the previous games of the series a lot.
Ooh Sonic colors. I never actually got around to beating my Wii copy. I hope it's been improved cuz I heard at lunch it wasn't the best

Wow, pretty amazing as Veilguard just came out in October. Opinions have been pretty mixed, but I'll happily try it out for free. I loved Inquisition, but I know to keep my expectations lower for this one.
As for TMNT collection, I had bought for Switch a long while back so i could have it for portable play. I'm really happy to get it again on PS5 for trophies.
