If Assassin's Creed Shadows can deliver just a portion of the magic that made Ghost of Tsushima a success, it could reignite the franchise.
Ubisoft: "Hello everyone,
Tomorrow, June 25, we will be releasing Title Update 1.0.6 for Assassin's Creed Shadows @ 2 pm UTC / 10 am EDT / 7 am PT.
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to report these issues to us via the Bug reporter. As always, you can contact our support team if you run into any trouble.
Have a look at tomorrow's upcoming changes and be sure to check out the Year 1 Roadmap for more information on what's coming next for Assassin's Creed Shadows!"
It took going back to a much older game to realise just how empty Assassin's Creed Shadows feels.
"I've never thought feudal Japan would be a good Assassin's Creed setting. Give me 1960s southern England with mods and rockers."
Aaaaaaand that's where I stopped reading.
And shadows reminds me of something origins is lacking. Virtually every game is lacking something. It is because it is lacking, that it has what it isnt. Funny dichotomy that…
Origins is a beautiful game made by talented people that got turned into a brutal level-gate fest by the CEOs.
There are only a few Assassin's Creed games I played. Original, The Ezio Collection, and what I think is probably the best in the series Assassin's Creed Odyssey with the DLC. I'm done with the series, it's the same shit.
Fans and collectors will likely be thrilled over the new vinyl soundtrack release for the game.
Will it be good?..maybe. Will it eclipse Ghosts of Tsushima?…no.
No. I for one, am excited for this game, but just like Outlaws it’ll more than likely commercially flop. The damage Ubisoft has done to their brand and their push for DEI initiatives has taken a toll.
I love Ghost of Tsushima, but there were plenty of areas where it could have been better, and I think that’s why they have chosen to take Ghost of Yotei into a different era (300 years orso after Tsushima), into a different region, and with a new ‘Ghost’, cause that opens up those possibilities for improvement, which couldn’t have been done if they had stuck to Jin and Tsushima. Bigger cities, more varied fighting styles/gameplay, etc.
Which brings us to AC Shadows, which is set in the most interesting era of Japan, and in the most interesting region. It will have (at least) two different playable characters, with different play-styles, and probably multiple weapon-styles. Personally, I think AC Shadows is looking very promising, but I’ve always been their target demographic, cause open-world Japan games have always been appealing to me.
AC Shadows will have big cities, different play-styles, it's set in a fantastic region and in an era of historical importance, lots of historical figures, and when we look at the care Ubisoft has put in post-launch (free) content for games like Odyssey and Origins, we can be hopeful that AC Shadows might get a similar treatment where it takes you on a virtual tour and teaches you all about the culture, the history, the architecture, etc.
I’m expecting both AC Shadows and Ghost of Yotei to be absolutely great. There will be similarities, there will be differences, but I think both will be worth playing, for me at least. I can understand why not everyone would be interested in multiple open world Japan ninja/samurai games, so those people will just choose whichever seems more appealing to them personally, but I’m excited about both games.
Lol.
How awesome would a modern day Assassin's Creed be? Instead they spend years making a Tsushima clone.
