Wait a minute. Do you need a TV with VRR in order to unlock the 60fps modes? Am I reading that right?

lukasmain141d ago (Edited 141d ago )

PS5 PRO runs at upscaled-4K at 60 FPS thanks to PSSR

Base PS5 the resolution will cap-out at 1440p, and even that will be upscaled from a lower native resolution to make sure the game runs at a smooth 60 FPS.

Good news here is that both versions will be 60fps.

@P_Bomb no you don't need a tv with VRR to unlock the 60fps modes on either console. I don't really understand what the dev is talking about here. VRR itself doesn't directly unlock 60fps modes in games. It just helps to make it smooth with no screen tears and dropped frames etc.

"PS5 PRO runs at upscaled-4K at 60 FPS thanks to PSSR"

Unlocked frame rate. There. Fixed for you.

Here´s hoping PSSR will perform as it should and not ruin another game for PS5 Pro owners like it did for some current gen games, looking worse than the Xbox Series S ports.

"@P_Bomb no you don't need a tv with VRR to unlock the 60fps modes on either console."

HDMI 2.1 and VRR are OFFICIAL REQUIREMENTS to unlock 60fps mode on consoles! Stop spreading false information!

@Obscure
Something tells me your hoping the opposite.

lukasmain140d ago

@ Obscure

I wasn't spreading lies. I said that I wasn't sure what the devs meant at the time. I honestly thought you don't need a tv with VRR to unlock a 60 fps option. It seems I'm just wrong about that. Don't act like I'm knowlingly spreading lies. Not every comment on N4G has alterior motives or something.

Fishy Fingers141d ago (Edited 141d ago )

Probably means unlocked target 60fps WITH VRR support (to help with any dips, because there will be dips).

P_Bomb141d ago

@fishy&potato
Ah, that’s good to know then. Thx!

Obscure_Observer140d ago

"Wait a minute. Do you need a TV with VRR in order to unlock the 60fps modes? Am I reading that right?"

Yep. They could just say their game feats unlocked frame rate on consoles and call it a day.

I saw it running on PC and unfortunately, the performance doesn´t look good at all, so I´m not holding my breath when comes to console performance at launch.

Also, I though it was kind of suspicious how Warhorse is pushing the release one week ahead of the original release date since their game doesn´t look well optimized. Not when they said they want to see how KCD2 fares against AC Shadows.

LucasRuinedChildhood140d ago (Edited 140d ago )

Pretty sure it's just the "unlocked VRR" setting that a lot of Sony games put in their options. Same terminology.

Let's the framerate go above 60fps for 120Hz TVs. More games should have this option on both consoles.

Firebird360140d ago

@LucasRuinedChildhood is the correct answer.
Unlocked mean the framerate is uncapped, can run above 60fps but will not be consistent allowing for vrr to smooth things out.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II (XS) Review | VGChartz

VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "In keeping with this world, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is like swearing fealty to an inconsistent liege-lord. On the one hand, you're absolutely proud to be a bannerman for what this series' foundation represents – its fusion of realism with game mechanics, the simulative world, and its role-playing depth; on the other hand, you see its mismanaged storytelling and design foibles disrupt those spectacular highs. Nevertheless, Warhorse Studios has made a behemoth of a game that would've made a less-experienced or less-talented team fold under pressure. That much is certain. And though I can't necessarily affix this momentous sequel as a new "gold standard" of the genre, it nonetheless earns your loyalty."

Took a break a couple weeks ago after arriving in Kuttenberg. Then a patch broke a main quest. Hopefully it’s fixed now.

coolbeans32d ago

Damn. Have you tried reporting the issue to Warhorse for some potential workaround?

Even though it'd set you back, perhaps you could load in one of your earlier auto-saves where the main quest wasn't broken. It sucks, but at least it wouldn't be a full reset.

P_Bomb32d ago

They acknowledged it on Twitter. Haven’t read the latest patch notes tho so it might’ve been fixed. Some peeps were rolling back hours of saves! Me, I just took a brief hiatus. I’ll check in on it later tonight.

coolbeans32d ago

Gotcha. Well, fingers crossed that the problem has been rectified.

coolbeans31d ago

That's what annoying to me: its scope, interlocking systems, and so on *should* make it an easy shoe-in. I just don't think it reaches that final hurdle.
