PS5 Pro clearly serves a niche market but has launched with strong support

There’s no question that PS5 Pro is aimed squarely at a dedicated subset of the console audience looking to tap in to PC like features without taking the plunge on a full blown commitment to a desktop gaming rig. It’s ultimately a first world proposition; removing the trade off between Quality and Performance settings and letting folks enjoy both without compromise firmly places this as an iterative luxury item that is unlikely to meaningfully shift broader market share.

It’s still on sale here, with discounts between 7% and 15%, depending on the store. Over on Amazon, it’s managed to sell at least 600 units since launch, funnily that is around 7% of PS5 sales during the same time. For a niche platform, that’s not bad...

Here in the US, Amazon shows 10k+ in the last 30 days. It is a lot cheaper over here. But actually I would expect most sales to come from shops like Gamestop where you can just do a smooth trade. With my trade ins I only had to pay about $200 for it.

I traded in my PS5 and a bunch of redundant games and other things I had. Specific to GameStop, they were running a promotion that gave me an extra 10% on everything as well. Yeah I made out real good. For people not doing tradeins (such as the folks on Amazon I assume) you are gonna have to take the hit. It would be worth it to me but honestly thats a matter of preference and financial responsibility.

I sell my extra games or games I decided I don’t want in my collection on eBay as I make more money that way but GameStop is much more convenient. With a a bonus coupon you can make out decent though

I'm enjoying mine. One think is I think it should have been mandatory for old graphics profiles to remain in all games. No reason to remove them. A few games have issues due to inadequate use of pssr, but most are improved.
