Not even sure what the point of pirating anything on switch. Anything multiplatform has a superior existing version on other platforms. And the games that are “worth” it aren’t even that impressive in emulation to go through the hassle for.

I had yuzu and wanted to play games I had bought at higher performance/resolution and it was such a mixed bag. But games like astral chain at 60 fps didn’t change the other flaws the game had. Just made it faster

VersusDMC306d ago

I don't know anyone that would prefer a 30fps 60$ remaster (Luigis Mansion 2 HD for example) over the free 60 fps version on emulation on the PC.

And to say nobody cares about FPS is kinda funny. How many articles are there wondering when a 60fps Bloodbourne is coming?

Lexreborn2306d ago

I never said any of that, I said I don’t see the point of playing wonky emulated versions when the superior versions exist elsewhere.

Then on top of that the 60fps versions of said games is actually impactful on the performance of the games you want to try but don’t have real improvements to spend all that time on the few said games that’s “worth it”.

But you can assume what you want out of that

WolfSeed306d ago

Excuse me? I have a feeling this obsession will blow up in their face.

OtterX306d ago

Nah, I think going after emulation of old games is stupid, especially since a lot of the old games aren't available to play anywhere. No longer on the market.

This however is going after people pirating current games on the market.

Nintendo is notoriously stupid aggressive and overreactive, but at least for pirating new Switch games, they're right on this.

PRIMORDUS306d ago

Torrent/Usenet is the only way to keep collections of ROMs. They will never be taken down, Nintendo will always lose if they try.

--Onilink--306d ago

Also, in both scenarios they sent cease/desist first and both continued their actions anyway, so they can’t really say they weren’t warned

fsfsxii306d ago

Keep doing it everybody. Nintendo can fuck right off

fsfsxii306d ago

All the dislikes are broke ass people who’d give their life to defend a billion dollar corporation like wtf

DodoDojo306d ago

Nah your comment just made it seem like you didn't read the article. They aren't suing people that just pirate their games, they're suing people that are profiting by selling mod chips and roms.

NotoriousWhiz306d ago

Broke ass people are the ones buying the games or trying to play them for free?

PRIMORDUS306d ago

I have a Switch and I agree, Nintendo can fuck off. I do have full collections of Nintendo ROMs, and other consoles.

DodoDojo306d ago

Good, hopefully the 2 individuals end up having to pay up. Shouldn't be profiting off of someone else's work.

PRIMORDUS306d ago (Edited 306d ago )

I can easily buy a modded Switch on Etsy https://www.etsy.com/search... Or a 3DS, PSP, etc. with games. This has been going on for years. So what is Nintendo stopping? LOL. What about Switch ROMs to torrent, can stop that now can we haha lol. I see it differently, if I buy a Switch I should do what I want and mod it sell it use it period. I bought it and no one else should have a say. I don't really acknowledge the DMCA shit, just non-sense. This goes for any console, or any other device.

...still better than a one time use code in a box.

Neonridr10h ago

people here forget that Sony sells Collector's Editions of games (God of War, Horizon, etc) that give you a steelbook with no disc. Just a code on a piece of paper. But because some 3rd party devs are choosing this route it's all Nintendo's fault.

Si-Fly10h ago

If the option was a physical cartridge or a game key card then that would be the best possible situation. However it’s looking increasingly like game key cards will totally phase out physical media and that is really disappointing. I have a huge physical Switch libary and was looking forward to doing the same for the Switch 2.

staticall8h ago

@Neonridr
But it was Nintendo, who introduced this game key thingy. So it's 100% their fault.

CrimsonWing6911h ago

Ironic coming from an ex-Ubisoft lead dev.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH10h ago

How so? Do you think devs have any say on how a game is distributed?

Neonridr10h ago

yes.. they could pay full price to put their games on a cartridge, or pay less and provide a digital code and save money.

Which do you think devs would opt for?

CrimsonWing6910h ago

It wasn’t about distribution… 🤦‍♂️

The irony being him criticizing what creates of the loss of making gaming feel “special.” You know, annual releases with a paint-by-number blue print, monetization, and in general just Ubisoft practices for the last decade.

Sorry that one went over your head.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH8h ago

Then maybe you should do a better job of making your point instead of readers assuming what you’re trying to say.

Muigi11h ago

Yet most games these days on Blu-ray's don’t even contain the full game or the game at all. But he wasn’t complaining when he was at Ubisoft tho.

Christopher10h ago

Kind of normal to not want to get fired for public complaints about your company, though.

Duke1910h ago

Buying a physical box, just to open it for a glorified QR code is a shitty practice but I can absolutely see it becoming the norm sadly.

The enjoyment of owning something physically is going away, now its just a paid trial of services you never really "own".

Neonridr10h ago

except this is still a physical cartridge that you have to put in your console. You just have to download the entire game. But instead of it just being a code in a box (which is a one time use), you could still sell this or lend it to your friend.

It's not great no, but it's nothing like what we had with some Switch games.

Duke1910h ago

Fair, its better than a one time use code but it I agree with the point in the article. It still takes away from the overall experience (especially from a nostalgia perspective).

Neonridr8h ago

@Duke19 - I mean we have digital edition only consoles now from MS and Sony. That's ok?

Seems like this is just a physical vs digital conversation, you can't exactly single out Nintendo here as everyone seems to be doing it.

gold_drake9h ago

thisnis definitely gonna bite nintendo in the arse in some way.

kids mostly use the consoles and not all parents know what to do with it.

also, what if u dont or cant use wifi ? lol

Won’t be surprised that they will blame Genki for missing the target sales. After all it’s Genki that decided to price the console and games

Christopher1d 13h ago

Aren't they already sold out on preorders in most places?

MDTunkown1d 9h ago

It’s still not hard to find them here in Europe. Amazon fr even until this weekend sold them for 20 euro cheaper than market price.

Profchaos1d ago

US and Japan are sold out Australia is in stock and UK has limited stock in some retailers left

Agent751d 13h ago

The money that Nintendo lost on Wii U, they made up for on Switch, but still, the loss is still there. All guns blazing with Switch 2 pricing, suing Genki is a 'we need to make money' exercise. Goes without saying that Switch 2 will sell out at launch, but once it settles down, the masses won't pay it.

Profchaos13h ago

Actually the 3DS kept Nintendo afloat during the Wii U era it was a huge hit with a healthy profit margin

Profchaos1d ago

Genki abused its position as a partner to drum up hype for their business so they deserve the lawsuit however it's not going to be blamed for missing any targets

Dhika1d 14h ago

They should be renamed to "Suetendo" haha

I was once addicted to soap but now I'm clean, haha

jznrpg1d 14h ago

It’s almost identical to the first Switch. No surprise.

Profchaos1d ago

Pretty clear cut here they were under a partnership agreement here they violated that
