well HOT DAMN.... they didnt forget about Quantum Break or Control after all. And like it took so long to see AW2 come to fruition, maybe this is a glimpse of hope that both control 2 and QB2 are something they are considering.

Psychonaut85322d ago

I may be wrong but that’s not the character from Quantum Break. The actor who played the main character in Quantum Break plays the cop character from AW2, that’s the character in the DLC

got_dam322d ago

Bingo. Microsoft owns quantum break. Doesn't mean it couldn't happen, but I think you are right. That's supposed to be sheriff Breaker.

KwietStorm_BLM322d ago

It's the same character in parallel existence, because of the way the manuscripts affect the real world narrative in Alan Wake.. Just like Casey. Warlin (Door) is Martin (Hatch). Notice how Sheriff Tim(e) Breaker is found throughout Alan Wake II working on the whiteboard, just like Jack came across in the university. But because Microsoft owns Quantum Break, think of it like Wanda and Pietro in the MCU, as opposed to Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver

“ Sam Lake also announced physical Deluxe and Collector’s Editions for Alan Wake 2. Both versions will be available starting tomorrow, so make sure to get your orders in. Keep in mind, though, that the former will be priced at $80, while the latter will cost $200 and is dropping in November 2024 via Limited Run Games”

Physical huh. Gee whiz. Didn’t see that one coming…

REDGUM322d ago

Wow, thanks for the heads up. For me, for this game, what I've seen of it and judging from the past game I'm down for it. Very rarely do I buy original and was damn disappointed to hear it was digital only but this now is a must buy for me.

ravens52322d ago

I'm not liking this trend. What does that look like with shipping smh. I spent 106$ on BG3 and still haven't received it, it's been delayed to July or something. If it were in stores I would've paid 70+tax and had it by now. I don't want to pay 80+ when they could put the standard copies in stores for 70$.

ravens52322d ago

It does come with a lot of stuff though. A digital copy of Alan Wake and both the DLCs. That's pretty good. But again how much does it come out to after shipping and tax.

Relientk77323d ago (Edited 323d ago )

It's about damn time they announced the physical copy. I'll be picking this game up now

*edit: Just saw the price, when it's on sale I'll get it, not paying $80

Tacoboto323d ago

Lol, you get what you want and it's still not good enough.

Grandstanders be grandstanding, none of you were ever going to get AW2

Zenzuu323d ago (Edited 323d ago )

$80 and you're already complaning?!

Here in Australia games cost between $90 to $110, with deluxe editions going for $130 on average.

Skuletor322d ago

In NZ $130 has been the average price of just the base game, for most new releases for a while now.

Just checked upcoming PS5 games and Silent Hill 2 remake is $139.99, AstroBot is $124.99 and Assassin's Creed: Shadows is $199.99

just_looken322d ago

Do the conversion i agree zen so add $10 to all of that sense it's usually $70 usd

I agree I'm not liking this trend. What does that look like with shipping smh. I spent 106$ on BG3 and still haven't received it, it's been delayed to July or something. -Foxtrot322d ago

To be fair you do get Alan Wake Remastered with it

Although I probably could swallow it better if they gave us it as a second disc over a download code.

just_looken322d ago

I hope many will be like you and say no to paying $80 for going on a 7 month old game.

Gone on the days of platinum titles/greatest hits collection now everyone defends the multi billion dollar company like its there child being attacked by predators. There real child would be sold to help fund said company no doubt.

This is one DLC I'll be happy to pay full price for. The sales for AW2 are way under what they should be given just how damn good the game is. I haven't enjoyed a game this much since Ghost of Tsushima and if I can support the dev in any way, I will.

MrBaskerville322d ago

Dunno what the dlc costs, but the deluxe edition upgrade is cheap right now and includes both dlc's.

Best DLC/Expansion of 2024

VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "Regardless of title, "DLC" or "Expansion," everyone understands what they're all about: getting more of the thing you already like. Even if you've been satiated by the main game – be it MMO or a more modest endeavor – there's this natural yearning for more stuff that perhaps couldn't make the original deadline. Sometimes it's simply more content with some nuances, other times it's something that feels totally different. Unexpected, but enjoyable nonetheless. Regardless of where on that spectrum these finalists lie, one thing is certain: these were among the best 2024 had to offer."

Alan Wake II: Night Springs (XS) Review | VGChartz

VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "A humble expansion showcasing a developer's unique style is flanked on two sides. To its left, the unnecessary publisher meddling of having to pay the upfront cost of a Deluxe Upgrade; to its right, a wave of new expansions to some of the most popular titles. What modest DLC could hope to argue its value against those gargantuan competitors? Like most things in life, it's about perspective. For despite its limits in total runtime, this adventure into a world of shadow and substance, of things and ideas, is stuffed with loony What If? scenarios that excite one's imagination. If accepting the tradeoff of creativity over longevity then pay the toll and cross into... Night Springs."

Was alright. Didn’t grab me as much as the main game tbh.

coolbeans290d ago

Same here. But there is something to a certain game or storytelling concept that pushes me to being more excited than I typically am. Even if they were silly distractions, the meta-commentary and genre shifts in the Time Breaker episode (along with the writing) were the perfect kind of Remedy goofiness. It's damn near impossible to think of another big-budget developer doing that sort of thing.
