Cryostasis Trailer And Details

dailygamesnews.com - A trailer for the previously mentioned, Cryostasis. Taking place in the Arctic Circle in 1981, players take on the role of Alexander Nesterov, a Russian meteorologist sent to investigate the final hours of the North Wind, an old nuclear ice-breaker shipwrecked in an icy grave.

That doesn't look half bad.

PC title, eh?

I like the way the story is based off on and it looks to be something different. I would get rid of the 1st person view mode that's too much FPS type set up and its getting played out quick. What ever happen to story telling and character development with deep game play mechanics? I guess those get thrown out the window...That may be just me but a lot of the games this gen are getting too FPS type treatment.

Looking forward to the development of this game, looks promising.

Either way, this game looks to hold a well of prmoise for being good.
I think the Frist person aspect is required for immersion purposes. It's not as effective to be watching everything over someone's shoulder like a ghost when you can best be in that person's shoes.

I'm not sure about this one since i got all gored up with Dead Space and i like how Dead Space annihilated the enemies.

Yeah I really like the look of this title

I got the russian release of this, and honestly, it's pretty poor. The optimization is terrible, I've got a pretty capable machine, I can play Crysis on medium at around 40fps, high around 20fps, but I can only just play this on low at about 15fps, and it doesn't even look that great. The gameplay is slow and clumsy, and the storytelling techniques are annoying and boring. If you're interested in this, don't get your hopes up. (And I'm not just some SHOOTAN fan, I like games with stories and interesting gameplay mechanics, like penumbra or SoTC, but I just can't enjoy this game.

I get 25~28 fps on 1920x1200 enthusiast/gamer 2xaa with Crysis on my OCed GTX 280 + e8400,
but I get a good steady 35~40 with my GTX 280 on maxed 1920x1200 with maximum AA ( I think it was 4 or 8) on Cyrostasis.

Do you have the Russian version with the English translation? . I do not know why you say that the narrative, history and structure of the story are boring. The way of the story is very original and the story is rather more interesting than the average FPS or Survival horror. And the gameplay of the game is more similar to games like Penumbra + Codenamed - with few enemies- than an FPS. There are levels complete near the end of the game in which one must not kill anyone, and the first gun appears in the second third of the game.

Have You Played… Cryostasis?

RPS:

"Cryostasis belongs to the same class as the S.T.A.L.K.E.R and Metro series, namely weird-as-heck Eastern bloc shooters. As an FPS it isn’t as good as anything either of those series’ offer, but the story it tells between the gun bits is satisfyingly mysterious and surprisingly touching."

Among the Sleep was pretty good. Not all I was hoping it would be, but still a very strong title. Never played, naissanceE and Cryostasis, while interesting, was very, very poorly executed.

There are a number of titles that I feel are more deserving of a new audience.

Soldier of Fortune, made by Raven again like SOF2.. That multiplayer was so good back in 2002.
