PS5’s lack of Ubisoft+ Premium is both frustrating and confusing

Ubisoft has revamped its Ubisoft+ subscription service, but Sony needs to get in on its Premium tier for PS5 as Xbox continues to boast better day-one access.

Why, do people really want this. 17.99 lol ubisoft slow down. Should be 10 at most

fr0sty464d ago

They want WAY more than PS+ Premium costs, and this site is trying to spin it as if PS fans are missing out by not getting ripped off by Ubisoft...

Jin_Sakai464d ago

Yea I’d rather not have 15 different subscription services.

Christopher463d ago

10 years from now: Why doesn't PS7 have all 10 options for game subscriptions services? Why is it still focusing on selling games!?

fr0sty463d ago (Edited 463d ago )

I think the game subscription service bubble will have popped by then, just like it's popping right now for movie and show subscription services. It's evolving the exact same way... A couple services pop up that offer it all, the content providers start getting greedy and decide to launch their own services and begin pulling content from the original services to make it exclusive to their own, people get sick of having to have 10 different subs pulling $100 a month out of their accounts, and it all goes belly up.

shadowT465d ago

17.99 per month only for Ubisoft games..

TwoPicklesGood464d ago

Not sure why it’s not on PS but hopefully that changes. The more options the better.

Zeke68464d ago

The less subscriptions in my life the better in my opinion.

Mr Logic464d ago

It existing as an option does not force you to subscribe.

Zeke68464d ago (Edited 464d ago )

@Mr Logic
I know :) I just meant I dislike the fact that "they" shove tv, movie, game and whatnot-subscriptions down our throats. The endresult for me and my wife at least, is that we start to avoid them altogether.
So in the long run these companies actually loose money on us. I just wish more people would boycott it so we can get rid of 90% of the crap ones out there. (subscriptions that is) :)

Mr Logic464d ago

@ Zeke
I get where you're coming from. Besides PS+ and Prime (for the shipping) I haven't had any subscription for 5+ years.

GamingSinceForever464d ago (Edited 464d ago )

Why you got downvoted is beyond comprehension.

ModsDoBetter464d ago

N4G - the hive mind see it as a negative light on Papa PlayStation when @Two said they're not sure why it's not on PS. Anything that can be taken even as slight criticism is downvoted by the drones.

MrNinosan464d ago

It's enough with the free package we get with Ubisoft.
Would never pay 18$/month for this, that's way more than I pay for PS+ Premium.

Am I reading this right? The Lost Crown (great game btw) took $200 million to create? How? Like seriously? No wonder the games business is in serious trouble. A side-scrolling Metroidvania game costing that much money is insane to me. Maybe I am out of touch, very possible, but of course that is not sustainable. Sad and scary times in this industry. Ubisoft is in serious trouble. Too bad because at one time I really enjoyed a lot of their games. But recently they seem so lost on how to manage their amazing catalog of IP's and are pushing their projects in a direction that gamers simply don't want. Is the only way to save them is for them to be bought up by someone (going to another huge problem with the industry in lack of competition and monopolization)? So sad.

ABizzel1180d ago (Edited 180d ago )

The problem is multi-layered.

Games are taking longer to make, and you would think even something like a side-scroller should be simple for a what is generally considered a AAA studio, but 3 years in development is still a high cost. A team of say 150 devs, and the average salary is basically $100k per year, that’s $45 million right off the bat, and honestly IMO, more than what should be invested into a game such as this.

Unfortunately, a lot of these gaming companies were founded by people who loved making games, but are not pushed into business roles as they’ve grown from studio to corporations, and they simply don’t have the business sense to run them. You have two groups responsible for this, the gamer turned executive who has a passion for the hobby but finance is not their area of expertise and thus a game that should have a $20 million budget ends up with a $100 million budget. Then you have the greedy shady corporate slimeballs who only want money and will run the budget up for their own personal gain, and now you have a game that should have been $20 million now at $200 million and the developers are the ones who get screwed over.

200m is just mad and i think is highly inaccurate..
God of War ragnarok cost 200m to make.. we are on another level value wise.

anast179d ago

Mismanagement is the issue, especially if they need 150 devs for a side-scroller. Hollow Knight had 3. Even if they wanted to up the production value, I don't see a reason for 150 devs.

CrimsonWing69180d ago

Yes that in no way looked like a 200 mill budgeted game… I think we’re overpaying people.

No they don't cost that much unless you include the massive CEO salaries.

Hollywood Accounting is what it is called. But recently directors are starting to tell the truth about costs in making movies.

Hopefully someone will blow the lid off of how much it actually costs to make a game.

Hotpot180d ago

Overhiring most likely. Ubisoft has around 19 thousands employees, now compare that to Nintendo with 7 thousands employees worldwide.

That’s right, almost 3 times the employees of Nintendo, a company with far more game libraries and a hardware division. How many of those 19 thousands are actually developers?

TwoPicklesGood179d ago

Right! $200m for the last PoP is insane and I can't see how that was possible. If it did indeed cost $200m then there's a major problem lol. I loved the game but no way in hell is it a $200m title.

The gaming world is burning and these CEOs are the dog saying "it's fine" while they sit atop their piles of money.

Agent75180d ago

Gaming was great when it was SEGA and Nintendo, then Sony and Microsoft came along and moved it to the next level. £70+ games, £700 consoles, £70+ controllers, VR too expensive and paid DLC, it was inevitable what direction this was going in.

S2Killinit180d ago (Edited 180d ago )

Don't couple Sony with MS. Gaming was still great when it was Sony and Nintendo. Then MS came in with their big heads and continue to scorch earth console gaming. At least Sony is an entertainment company. MS is just a conglomerate looking to monopolize or burn it all down if they can’t get their way.

aaronaton179d ago

VR too expensive? I'm pretty sure PSVR2 is the best value headset in the business.

anast179d ago

Revisionist history...most early Nintendo and Sega games were expensive reskins of Mario, Street Fighter and random Atari games and they were well over a $100 in today's money.

Knushwood Butt179d ago

It's not just the gaming world.

Inverno179d ago

Ain't that the bloody truth.

Agent75180d ago

They churn out some great looking games, but gameplay wise and paid DLC, it was always heading for a cliff edge, which will be the downfall of gaming. The 1983 gaming crash is looming.

I wonder who the nut jobs are that will get this. Seriously Ubisoft isn't worth a sub and having this along side ps+ y'all must be rich.

Agent75180d ago

It's like in the UK, you pay for broadband, a TV licence, then there's the likes of Sky, Virgin and BT offering subscription TV. On top of that, there's Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney Plus, Paramount, Discovery Plus and ITV X to name a few. Has always made me wonder how people can afford it and also have the time to watch TV.

BeHunted413d ago (Edited 413d ago )

Disclaimer: It's always cheaper purchasing the entire Ubisoft Game Edition when they're on sale.

OtterX413d ago

Exactly. Ubisoft prices plummet soo fast and hit some incredible lows. I probably wouldn't own every Assassin's Creed game if it weren't for the dirt cheap sales they hit.

Agent75180d ago

Most SEGA games drop in price pretty quick.

OtterX180d ago

@Agent75 lol how is this article still open for comments 233 days later?

Agent75180d ago

I agree. I'm waiting for Space Marine 2 dropping to £10 used.

jznrpg413d ago

This service is for the severely uninformed. These games are in bargain bin why rent them monthly?

Profchaos413d ago

Exactly you can pickup most of their backlog for 5 bucks a pop with change I've seen some older titles go for as little as $1 like watch dogs
