COG writes: We have had a bunch of incredible fighters and are still due Tekken 8 but where the hell is Virtua Fighter 6?
A recent Youtube video compares the latest Virtua Fighter 6 concept gameplay with the movie Dragon Forever, and it looks absolutely stunning.
Everyone expected Sega to reveal a new Virtua Fighter title, namely VF6, during the 2023 The Game Awards, but that announcement revealed something else. One person in particular, who happens to be the head honcho behind the Tekken series, wants to know where Virtua Fighter 6 is.
"Sega has talked about rebooting old titles, but rebooting is difficult, it’s less likely to work,” said Aoki.
Bring back Yu Suzuki plz
I want the Arcade Mode like the PS3 version had. You could earn all the unlockables through it, it was brilliant and lengthy! Then they did Virtua Fighter 5 Showdown which went to micro transactions and removed that mode. Lame.... It had online mode, which the PS3 version didn't have, but I'd rather have that Arcade Mode than the online the 360 and subsequent consoles has gotten.
So, thanks for advocating for us, yeah, Virtua Fighter 6 and Virtual-On as well. Cool to see the fighting development community as fans of each other. Will be getting Tekken 8 as well
We will see one in five years. Wait I dont want to wait 5 or 10 years. They should already be working on it right now to release in two years
From Siliconera: "The latest Famitsu issue has special coverage to mark the release of Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown. It included an interview with chief producer Seiji Aoki from Sega. The interview revealed that Sega still has yet to make any plans for Virtua Fighter 6 as of Ultimate Showdown‘s release. "
Disappointing but I would think that the re-release of VF5 will play a large roll in if VF6 happens or not. Fighting games have went from "evergreen" coin eaters to e-sports competitions and I could see that making new titles difficult for the bean counters to justify. Still the current trends in fighters have me less then thrilled with the future of the genre. Way too much DLC, over priced season passes, $100 "day 1 editions" its all just become a bit ridiculous imo.
People want it, fighting games been releasing left and right these days. VF was like the only one that was a no show.
Well if they don't plan on using rollback netcode they might as well not bother. So far my VF matches have gone from "playable" to lag fests. I was really rooting for this game but they dropped the ball with the netcode.
Yes! I have always been part of VF school because i enjoy the more tactical approach.. i hope this happens but SEGA is sleeping
Wrong
The right time for a new virtual fighter would be 2093 as the first came out back in 1993.
TBH Virtua Fighter 5 is the main reason I turn on my PS5. I play it daily and consider myself to be mid-high tier player. I’d love a VF6 but SEGA has no idea where to take the franchise. If they stuck with the current formula the game would not be played by casuals. If the start adding flash to the game the they will upset the OG fanbase like myself. Interested in seeing how SEGA handles VF6.
Love this franchise and YES !
I’ve waited a decade for an announcement so I’m done hoping but it is awesome to see people in the industry starting to call out for it. VF5 US is a game base on an engine almost 2 decades old and still has the most realistic beautiful animations, balanced roster and fluidity of any fighting game to date. It’s a real shame it doesn’t have the fandom it deserves but a big reason is because Sega just abandons it for years at a time even though that game historically is their most impressive technical achievement imo.
