I really hope that Bethesda works on that front since accessibility has been a huge focus for Microsoft.
But I also find the piece a bit biased (foreshadowing the 6/10 they are gonna give) when explaining that remapping is not good because the default option is the best (despite the fact that you can remap any key).
Or stating that you don't have the complete info on a weapon unless you go to inventory (I recall the numerous articles complaining about that in Zelda, FF, etc.).

The author also complains about not having a fallout mode where everything pauses but goes on to explain that you can " Pause" the game to make selections but that breaks immersion rendering the whole argument a no-win situation
"The Fallout series featured the innovative VATS targeting mechanic, in which players can pause time and target specific body parts or elements of the world while shooting. VATS enriches the game world whilst making gameplay inclusive." and "You’re able to swap weapons through the pause menu, but this isn’t the ideal solution as it breaks immersion."

In the end, as mentioned I always welcome solutions that help everyone enjoy the game but strongly feel that the purpose of the article was to complain for the sake of complaining and foreshadowing the predictable low score this game is going to get.

Your quote has nothing to do woth vats... its literally just changing weapons not slowing down anything while enemies are being targeted. Sure the environment technically slows down when you select favorote weapons, but this isnt anything that helps with aiming. Not sure if you know what vats is or why your trying to reason out those 2 things as being similar.

raWfodog419d ago

His quote regarding VATS was in regards to some people (perhaps physically challenged) having difficulty with combat...

"VATS enriches the game world whilst making gameplay inclusive. Its time slowing mechanic ensured disabled players did not struggle with the combat, especially when it came to the degree of precision required to manually aim at enemies during stressful real-time fights. Unfortunately, Starfield doesn’t utilise VATS or a VATS-like system. As a result, its fast-paced combat is challenging for many players to handle, especially with the added verticality and movement options gained by the boost pack."

My question to someone who knows...Is there a very big difference in Starfield's combat difficulty if you choose the 'Very Easy' option? The things that I have read said the difficulty option is strictly tied to combat so I would imagine that could be an option for more physically-challenged gamers.

Make a great Elder Scrolls game and a great Fallout game then talk to us about Starfield 2.

"Make a great Elder Scrolls game and a great Fallout game then talk to us about Starfield 2."

True. But the simple fact that Bethesda confirmed Starfield 2, is nothing but a confirmation that the game was a huge success for them and Microsoft!

MrNinosan6d ago

Bethesda decides themselves.
They have most likely handshaked on making it available on Playstation and promise more open world and less loading screens.

Starfield is one of few console exclusives I like on my Series X, but damn it needs huge changes to ever live up to other Bethesda games.

Obscure_Observer6d ago (Edited 6d ago )

@MrNinosan

"Bethesda decides themselves."

Wrong.

The days of independent Bethesda are gone. They´re is part of Xbox Game Studios now. They´ll report to Matt Booty and have their new games and projects greenlit by him.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Bethesda consider Starfield a failure. It definitely didn’t shift gamepass numbers nor did it see the sales charts alight.

just_looken6d ago

Yep even though the game was the worst one they made for everything but its technical state it must have made alot of money.

Starfield also has paid quest's along with paid mods who knows how much money they made on those.

So like you said xbox must have seen enough cash rolling in to green light number 2 even though the first one story was a rush job at best. No way i am giving them cash for any other game they will be making unless it in gp or free again with a gpu that is how i got starfield.

I'm sure Todd Howard will be retired before Starfield 2 starts early development

Obscure_Observer5d ago

Why would he? Todd Howard is 54 years old.

Brian Fargo (62) was about to retire after Wasteland 3, then changed his mind after MS´s acquisition and now is working on his Steampunk AAA RPG Clockwork Revolution.

I believe Todd will continue and develop games for as long as he can

@Obscure_Observer

We all know how long Bethesda takes to make their games. It's an excruciating wait for fans of titles like The Elder Scrolls 6 or another Fallout game which will take years in development. Time will tell though. Starfield 2 will probably come out in 5-7 years from now or longer. Probably after Elders Scrolls 6 and Fallout. I expect these games to take a while as well

babadivad5d ago

My brother loves Starfield. I haven't touched it yet. He almost makes me want to give it a try.

Hotpot5d ago

Yeah, it’ll be what? 2040 release at the earliest?

RaidenBlack6d ago (Edited 6d ago )

that'd be 2036 at best

Rainbowcookie6d ago

You are saying it wrong. It will be when Skyrim remarstered remastered game of the century ultimate edition remastered releases. 😅

just_looken6d ago (Edited 6d ago )

Do not forget elder scrolls 6 with 5 ports and fallout live service 76 sequal

MDTunkown6d ago

No, it could also mean it releases before elder scrolls. Since making a sequel with some up to date assets is easier than create a sequel to a game that have been released 2 console generation prior

Alos886d ago

Here's hoping it has better exploration than the first - it's like they took a look at the Mako exploration in Mass Effect 1 and thought "yeah we can make that less interesting"

just_looken6d ago

2005 game has better exploration/star map and ship navigation true also dam sad.

Flenter6d ago

🤣🤣🤣 Bethesda shut up ....

Are we back to N4G pinning it's own submissions again from videolamer?

Starfield Optimized Settings 2024: Best Graphics Settings for PC

Starfield recently got its first expansion pack in the form of Shattered Space. The post release DLC explores the origins of “House Va’ruun” and the “Great Serpent” as worshipped by its followers. The expansion doesn’t improve the visuals or mechanics in any way, but we felt that it was the right time to test the game.
