Starfield Is Too Focused On Fighting

Starfield’s combat isn’t as good as everyone says it is

I cant imagine leveling up enough on a low fighting playthrough...

That site has the worst takes ever.

It's not the combat, it's the dumb AI which just stands there.
SF is all about the writing and fun side quests and main story everything else is average.

The spaceflight is pretty fun and engaging. I like how you have to manage power flow to different systems and space combat feels pretty good. Ground combat on the other hand sucks, I might invest in a melee build because gunplay in this game feels so poor and the non-existent AI doesn't help things

Noskypeno265d ago

There needs to be a balance between easy and hard ai. Not every game needs enemies that are as realistically difficult as a pro streamer that spends hours every day mastering every combo and memorized the map. If I wanted that competition, I would play Apex legends with randoms that are legit rookies going against pros.

The AI is practically stationary, were not on about difficulty

I love the combat in this game it’s what I look forward to the most. Love it or hate it Starfield is definitely the talk of the town. It’s definitely one of those games you need to play for yourself to judge. Spend about 20 hours or so in the game then you’ll have a better idea of what this game has to offer.

Quetzll265d ago

20hrs??? My man... that's asking a lot. If a piece of media takes longer than an hour or two to convince you that its worth your time, then it isn't.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH265d ago

What you’re saying can’t be applied to every game. I can beat an average game in 6-12 hours. With games like Starfield you’re just getting started. Maybe your attention span is only 2 hours but not mines. If a game is 6 hours long then yeah two hours is enough time to tell if you like it but not a game that’s got dozens if not hundreds of hours of content to find..:

You know what would switch up the gunplay? Alien weaponry. Halo, Mass Effect, Destiny and Resistance all benefitted in being unique through alien combat options

I feel like the second big update that releases late this year will do just that. Part of the story expansion is also new means of transportation on planets.

P_Bomb5d ago

A good DLC could turn some heads. The Destiny games got momentum that way too.

piher5d ago

What player spike?

I checked steamcharts through the link in the article and it went from 8,000 to 11.500, so yea 20% but when the game peaked at 330,000 It's safe to say that the actual effect of this update was negligible.

LostPotato4d ago

Doubt it'll ever get redemption. As many developers have said in various interviews it's beyond saving.

Just release the mod tools and expansion and move on.

Profchaos4d ago

Cyberpunk 2077 had some strong bones i disliked it on launch because I could see the potential I could see the strengths of what they wanted to achieve but it wasn't done yet

They didn't get the memo the game is dead and the Bethesdabots only want magic and fantasy.

Boy_the_CowRoy4d ago

Starfield fans? The game only has 9 thousand current players, worldwide! As a company you cannot waste time on creating "Major features", it is simply not profitable. Just move on.
