Starfield mods wish-list - add-ons we're most excited to see

Amaar writes: "Starfield mods are going to be one of the most exciting things about the game. Skyrim’s lifespan has long since been expanded since its 2011 release thanks to the fantastic modding community that Bethesda have consistently empowered. We expect no different from their deep space exploration game."

The modding community is extremely creative. Nevertheless, if people are excited how they can massively overhaul a game, then the game should not be full price.

"Nevertheless, if people are excited how they can massively overhaul a game, then the game should not be full price."

-Are you serious? Man I swear I always think I've heard it all when it comes to folks spewing ridiculous takes on this site but then along comes anast and says "hold my beer".

-Bro if a dev goes out and makes a great game, its a great, worth every penny....and if they are smart enough and have the ability to allow modders to continue growing their game thats just a great gift to gamers and the mods themselves to show off their talent. Its a win for everybody involved. You actually sound like you hate games that have this type of longevity....maybe go play Angrybirds or something, touch grass.

"Starfield mods are going to be one of the most exciting things about the game. Skyrim’s lifespan has long since been expanded since its 2011 release thanks to the fantastic modding community that Bethesda have consistently empowered. We expect no different from their deep space exploration game."

-I can't wait to see what the mod community will do, especially since this is a space game with planets tailor made for mods to show off what they can do. The only question is which will come first Star Wars or Mass Effect mods? lol

anast687d ago

A solid game doesn't need to be massively overhauled. Bethesda games need unofficial patches to work properly ..you might need to hold your own beer.

4Sh0w687d ago (Edited 687d ago )

...And who said it needs to be massively overhauled? Skyrim sits at a 96 on metacritic. It had massive broad appeal even with bugs and long before mods ever touched it. Yet mods keep it going? -Is that the massive overhaul you dislike? Too bad.

lol, You make no sense, its so transparent looking at your comment history that the truth is you're jealous because this game will go on, and on because Bethesda has built a relationship by empowering a huge community of gamers/devs who like to keep refreshing their games with new & interesting mod content, they get noticed, make careers & we get games that continue to grow and change. Win, win, for everybody except entitled ps guys. Your problem is nothing can be great if its not on ps....thats a YOU problem, not a Starfield problem.

Markdn686d ago

Let's be honest here it will need a lot of patches and for sure loads of mods. However I always felt that if you need to mod a game to make it more enjoyable to you, then your buying the wrong game my friend.

4Sh0w686d ago

"I always felt that if you need to mod a game to make it more enjoyable to you, then your buying the wrong game"

lol, Again you are reaching too hard make up a scenario that doesn't exist. As I've shown Skyrim was a helluva game, rated on metacritic at 96 BEFORE MODS, also all of Bethesda games except for F76 are generally well received before mods, so why do you ASSUME it needs mods to be enjoyable? That's like saying if you need a sequel to continue enjoying *any game, then the first wasnt good enough, as if you should just be limited to replaying the first GoW if you want more GoW, 'cause who needs, new content right, lol= no, adding content to a already great experience is just giving the player more *unless your argument is that everything has to be separate from the original content to be "more enjoyable", lol which is just the dumbest take ever if you know anything about the history that the modding community has played since the beginning of gaming.

I mean, game's not released yet, how about we wait and see before asking for "Ultimate Starfield"? What's next, «What features we want to see in Starfield 2»? /s

Also, i think that land vehicles must be implemented by Bethesda themselves, not outsourced to mods. Otherwise, it kind of makes Bethesda look lazy.

rlow1687d ago

@anast
@garthtarth

Like all mods it adds to the longevity of the game. Which by itself will be huge.

But of course if you don’t like it then don’t buy it.

anast687d ago

Bethesda games need unofficial parches to work properly and small quality of life changes to be enjoyable.

"if you don’t like it then don’t buy it."

Let me help you:

I can buy it and complain, I can not buy it and complain, I can buy it and not complain, I can not buy it and not complain, I can borrow it and complain, I can borrow it and not complain....and so on.

You are welcome. Don't mention it.

rlow1687d ago

A little testy I see. Just making a suggestion, no offense meant.

PrinceOfAnger687d ago

I want to play with the Nanosuit in Starfield!
they did it in fallout before.

Fallout 4 on Switch 2 seems inevitable, but what about Starfield?

A Fallout 4 Nintendo Switch 2 port seems like an inevitability, but what about other Bethesda RPGs like Starfield.

I think all games will end up on switch from Xbox. MS has embraced going to other platforms now if games aren't doing well on Nintendo MS may be more selective in the future

On playstation they have been quite successful

anast32d ago

I'm not sure too many people want to play Starfield.

Profchaos32d ago

Phils all but confirmed they are going in hard with the switch 2

TheColbertinator32d ago

All are welcome to Switch 2. Microsoft Games Studios is interested in long term profits and market value not petty fanboy thoughts.

i believe that 100%

but not cause its difficult to work the ps5, its cause the game itself is fundamentally broken asf

RaidenBlack41d ago (Edited 41d ago )

Yea they need to fix it and I think they teased some major updates and patches this year. And as the norm we know even those won't be perfect and it'll take another year or two to reach a better state.
What Starfield also need is few more DLCs to fix the barrenness. .... and especially a substantial banger one with story and exploration to coincide with the PS5 launch and renew some interest.

dveio41d ago

"its cause the game itself is fundamentally broken asf"

Thanks.

I hate the rambling around pretty obvious things.

Such as, like you said, Starfield is just a big pile of broken code.

The latest news about Starfield's developmental environment just proved it.

badz14941d ago

If they release a PS5 version and it's still a loading screen simulator, they will just embarrass themselves.

Abear2141d ago

Corporate greed is the sole reason it’s coming to PS5. Expect the same game. This is M$ and Bethesda trying to recoup losses and capitalize on huge PS5 player base in an attempt to fund their next lame project.

neutralgamer199241d ago

Hopefully there is a huge major patch that gives the game a fresh chance

rudero41d ago

I believe it 100% because it was already being developed for PlayStation before they were acquired.

Not a rumor or a magical Microsoft push…
It was already in development.

-Foxtrot41d ago (Edited 41d ago )

They are going to have to do something to make you want the PS5 version

They can't escape all the negative coverage it's received since launch so they will need something to draw people in and honestly I can't think of anything.

It will sell, it just won't sell as well as they would have hoped for a Bethesda open world game now that they are launching late when opinions have already been made.

Hope it does pretty good, big fan of Bethesda.
But not gonna lie this game was fucking ass.

Probably my least favorite Bethesda style rpg ever.
Regretted paying to play it early.

moomoo31941d ago

It was so disappointing.. its not horrible but its a solid 7/10

Just announce it already.

lukasmain56d ago

They should try to remove the stupid overabundance of ridiculous loading screens for the PS5 version. But I assume it's not possible because of their crap engine and/or their laziness to do anything about it. But it is possible in some instances as some modders have done so a few times for PC from what I have seen.

It will be super jarring and weird for PS5 players to see so many loading screens, I worry it will destroy any potential immersion. I don't think I could handle it honestly lol. Combining that with the uninspired gameplay, I expect it would tank my motivation to play and finish the game.

Profchaos56d ago

Yeah I feel like it was also the creation engine it was core to why I gave up on the game the forced tutorials I was still getting 4 hours in just annoyed me it did t help I had just played through tears of the kingdom st the time which had zero tutorials and being forced to stop for a guided tutorial every 20 minutes killed me I have up at 6 hours despite being a huge fallout fan

Armaggedon56d ago

If one doesnt like the screens, just dint olay the game. Just like if one doesnt not like being handcuffed, dont play a fromsoft souls game. They are integral to the games design.

BISHOP-BRASIL56d ago

Are you seriously trying to push loading screens as a voluntary design choice rather than a technical limitation in 2025? Good luck with that...

Armaggedon56d ago

I dont know… is me having input delay when I try to roll in elden ring a technical limitation?

Bathyj56d ago

Meh.
I just started Death stranding. I don't have time for that.

LoveSpuds56d ago

I am trying to wrap up my Elden Ring playthrough so I can get a replay of Death Stranding in ahead of the sequel. That new video last week has be really excited, I loved the first game, one of my fave platinum trophies.

Bathyj56d ago

This is my first playthrough.
I didn't really get it when it released.
But after that trailer I decided to give it another look.

After 5 hours, I've built my first bridge. While ïts to early to be 100% sure I think I'm hooked. I'll see how I go. It feels like a game that hard to sell to someone but if you know you know

There's just so much Kojima in the game.

LoveSpuds55d ago

Just wait until later in the game when you start building a network of zip lines. Journeys that used to take 20 mins are done on a couple of minutes, it feels so satisfying 😀

Hope it continues to resonate with you dude, enjoy!

Profchaos56d ago

If what never a matter of if but when

MaximusPrime_56d ago

I have zero interest in this game but there are people who like it. People have their personal preference.
