Bethesda Encourages Players To Be Patient As They Work On Future Starfield Updates

Bethesda Softworks: "We know you're eager for an update, and we truly appreciate your passion for Starfield. The team has been hard at work, and while we're not ready to share specific details just yet, we have a lot of exciting things planned for the game this year that we can't wait to talk about when the time is right.

We’re always listening and taking your feedback to heart. Thanks for being part of this journey with us."

Have you thought about adding any exploration, space flight, adventure or any interesting characters to the game?

I haven't booted up this game since December 3rd 2023 and remains the only Bethesda RPG that I haven't finished.

arkard81d ago

Same, I built a pc for the game (I was overdue as well playing on 10 year old hardware) but it was just a chore and not fun to play. Also only Bethesda game I havent finished.

VenomUK81d ago

I played the start of it up until joining the Constellation, so too little for me to know how good or bad the game is. But I would say proper integrated space travel is necessary. If you played Skyrim and there was only fast travel between towns it would lose that sense of being a truly open world. So hopefully Bethesda can add this.

"25 years in the making" they said

lukasmain81d ago

LMAO everyone is thinking the exact same thing

RaidenBlack81d ago

+ plus a sizeable DLC and a big rework to the base game

-Foxtrot81d ago

That kind of makes sense to be honest

If you are going to release it on the PS5 with a much bigger install base then you have a chance to rework it enough to get people interested again.

You release it on PS5 without anything new and yeah it will probably sell copies but if people have heard bad things about it during the original release then they'd be less likely to buy it.

solideagle81d ago

well that's how MS is going to make money now.

They've been making money, my guy!

~ could've been sooo much better as the post.
But yea, fix & expand Starfield as well.

Fonsecap81d ago

This game was such a disappointment for me, I love Bethesda games, I still have fallout 4 installed with loads of mods that I boot from time to time, but starfield I finished it and uninstalled it immediately. This game doesn't respect players time, it uses all the tricks in the book to make waste time doing insignificant things, they limit the weight capacity, thy drop the player km away from mission objectives, crafting is boring like hell and make you grind, and so on, even mods couldn't save it. But the worst thin imo is that, unlike cyberpunk, I can't really see any potential for this game, no saving grace.

crazyCoconuts81d ago

Coming from someone that liked Fallout games and doesn't typically get into the base building or loot collecting, I don't think Starfield is bad at all. I'm just finishing it now on PC GP. It's got a pretty good story with some twists along the way. Personally I didn't spend any time collecting resources and crafting, but that capability didn't get in the way of me enjoying the game. It's not great or groundbreaking but it's good, imo.
In terms of weight, I wear the Mantis suit everywhere. In terms of dropping distance from objectives, i just get in the vehicle and boost to my destination. Takes like a minute.

IAMRealHooman81d ago

In terms of dropping distance from objectives, i just get in the vehicle and boost to my destination. Takes like a minute.

Issue is the other games they make a renowned for exploration. Doing a quest in the elder scrolls or fallout, on the way there you'll get sidetracked by : Random encounters, unique locals in the distance, things to peek and reward curiosity. The vehicle and boost helps but doesn't fix the lack of variety or sparseness of many planets.

No one gives a crap about Starfield in 2025. I mean seriously, has anyone remembered this game even exists? Lmao

Alos8810h ago

They really aren't. Nothing in Starfield is nearly as iconic as anything from Fallout.

Fallout 4 on Switch 2 seems inevitable, but what about Starfield?

A Fallout 4 Nintendo Switch 2 port seems like an inevitability, but what about other Bethesda RPGs like Starfield.

I think all games will end up on switch from Xbox. MS has embraced going to other platforms now if games aren't doing well on Nintendo MS may be more selective in the future

On playstation they have been quite successful

anast49d ago

I'm not sure too many people want to play Starfield.

Profchaos49d ago

Phils all but confirmed they are going in hard with the switch 2

TheColbertinator49d ago

All are welcome to Switch 2. Microsoft Games Studios is interested in long term profits and market value not petty fanboy thoughts.

i believe that 100%

but not cause its difficult to work the ps5, its cause the game itself is fundamentally broken asf

RaidenBlack58d ago (Edited 58d ago )

Yea they need to fix it and I think they teased some major updates and patches this year. And as the norm we know even those won't be perfect and it'll take another year or two to reach a better state.
What Starfield also need is few more DLCs to fix the barrenness. .... and especially a substantial banger one with story and exploration to coincide with the PS5 launch and renew some interest.

dveio58d ago

"its cause the game itself is fundamentally broken asf"

Thanks.

I hate the rambling around pretty obvious things.

Such as, like you said, Starfield is just a big pile of broken code.

The latest news about Starfield's developmental environment just proved it.

badz14958d ago

If they release a PS5 version and it's still a loading screen simulator, they will just embarrass themselves.

Abear2158d ago

Corporate greed is the sole reason it’s coming to PS5. Expect the same game. This is M$ and Bethesda trying to recoup losses and capitalize on huge PS5 player base in an attempt to fund their next lame project.

neutralgamer199258d ago

Hopefully there is a huge major patch that gives the game a fresh chance

rudero58d ago

I believe it 100% because it was already being developed for PlayStation before they were acquired.

Not a rumor or a magical Microsoft push…
It was already in development.

-Foxtrot58d ago (Edited 58d ago )

They are going to have to do something to make you want the PS5 version

They can't escape all the negative coverage it's received since launch so they will need something to draw people in and honestly I can't think of anything.

It will sell, it just won't sell as well as they would have hoped for a Bethesda open world game now that they are launching late when opinions have already been made.

Hope it does pretty good, big fan of Bethesda.
But not gonna lie this game was fucking ass.

Probably my least favorite Bethesda style rpg ever.
Regretted paying to play it early.

moomoo31958d ago

It was so disappointing.. its not horrible but its a solid 7/10
