Defs not ideal but I didn't kill gt7 for this so I'm not gonna kill forza for it, just suck that's once those servers go this game is dead just like gt7 will be. I hope all the people that shat on gt7 for this keep the same energy.

The real travesty here is, I just watched the ign career mode walkthrough and........ what the actual fuck.

Your telling me I need to use a car to actually start unlocking any upgrades for it.

How long will I need to use a car before I can fully upgrade it the way I want???

Part of the joy of these games is building up your credits and then splurging on the cars you want and making them power houses immediatly!

This just severely limits the amount of cars i will use in the game, unless i just want to drive everything stock which goes against everything we love about these types of games.

Ffs I was so pumped for this and now my hype just died in the ass, besides the racing, the tuning is the most important thing and now they locked it behind time sinks.

I swear to God if there is a microtransaction that allows you to fully master a car, I'm rioting lolllllll

Also just ruined online races with freinds as well were we pick all pick the same car and tune them to a set level before racing and then keep changing the cars every couple of races or so in gt7. Looks like gt will still be the go to for online.

I went from insanely hyped for this game to now very mild, between the online only and the ign coverage showing me an RPG game, like wtf turn 10.

It is what it is. Its 2023 we cant really make this a big deal after how many people are download games.

There career mode also will have new tracks and dlc put directly into it.

Leaderboards, time trial times, lap times etc is why it's always online. At least that's what PD said regarding GT always online, so I imagine it's because of that for FM too.

It seems more like a service built in the game so they can put more content in it over a long period of time.

Yeah, service being the thing. That's still not a reason to require it to be always online. If you want the added tracks and events, you'll have to connect. Server being down for whatever reason or the users internet having issues shouldn't keep someone from playing the game by themselves.

The always online isn’t to bad, GT7 I play daily but what I can’t understand is the whole RPG play with one car to unlock its upgrades, it’s ridiculous, I shouldn’t have to grind with 1 car just to upgrade it.

People will be playing the newest versions not 10 year old versions of Forza.
I get what you're trying to say but when the next version of Forza releases I doubt people are going keep playing this game. Only the few will continue playing the old version.

I mean that the case with any game the uses license material .. FM7 is only unavailable because of license issues that I sure they would have to pay for but see no reason to since it’s a very old game.

I guess it kind of depends on how they plan it out. They removed the number from the title - will it be like Halo Infinite's marketing, a "platform for the next ten years", and they'll continuously iterate and add to this game?

Or will it be like before and in 2-3 years we get Forza Motorsport II?

I would hope it's the former; sequelizing an online-only game this day and age is silly. I would not hope the same for the online-only GT7 though considering it's rooted in PS4-era tech

I travel with my PS5. Some Hotels and homes have great internet but some do not.

Most of the time when traveling I don’t connect to the internet at all and just jump in and play a game I have on disc.

Honest question. Do you live under a rock and live completely unaware of issues pretty much all the "always online" games run into, especially at launch? It isn't always about your internet connection.

I guess I am living under a rock or just extremely lucky cause I do not experience that many issues when playing single player games that require a connection. Sure there is the day 1 patch that pretty much comes with every single game in existence, and some bugs that might need to be ironed out along the way, but my experiences have not been what you describe.

I have a TP Link router that received a buggy firmware update about a month ago that causes random Wifi disconnects.

If I'm playing a game by myself, and that router goes through its issue, I'm potentially kicked out of my game for at minimum three minutes.

If Forza gracefully handles *this* scenario, I'm not terribly concerned about the actual moment-to-moment gameplay for its life. But, like any other online-only game, they can have the best reconnect system and a gracious offline span; that won't mean anything if they decide to Overwatch 2 us or turn off the servers when the game reaches end-of-life.

PD explained the always online is to do with tracking leaderboards, time trials times etc so it was always gonna be the same for FM.

The more I hear, the more I'm disliking.

- Having to earn experience points in a car to unlock certain mods. You just know you're going to take a car, race it up so you can modify it and not like it. Now you've got time sunk into a car you don't like and now have to spend time on another car (or multiple) to see if it drives the way you want it to.
+ Adding new events to the career (awesome!)
- Taking away events from the career (bad!)
Just add them and leave them. I don't want to have to fire up the game every week like I do in Horizon. Let me play for a while, take a month or two break, then come back to get caught up.

First GT, now Forza. Well I will play it so long as it’s on gamepass I guess. But I won’t be putting a ton of effort into it. I did the career on GT7 and haven’t touched it since. No point in collecting all the cars and grinding when you’ll eventually loose access to all that hard work.
Now I’m older and don’t have the free time to play like I used to, locking all this content behind a massive grind kills my interest.

It just shows how Microsoft has bought the media, even PlayStation-branded sites have sold themselves.

When GT7 was released every site on the internet was trying to outdo each other to damage the game's sales and brand.

I go to other new aggregate sites and I can't even find a single other article covering this.

Look at the DLC which you have to buy in this game vs GT 7 where you can just earn everything by playing the game.

But that was ripped apart because some of the cars were expensive in in-game currency... but still $$$ free. Meanwhile, this game is getting praised for having a battle pass and paid DLC on top of that.

It's sickening the dishonesty and misinformation we get from the media about PlayStation and the absolute double standard on which everything is covered.

And it's even worse when you realize how Microsoft is using its money to create these false narratives criticizing Sony for things they themselves are doing.

Wait this game has a battle pass and dlc? Wtf. So it's literally a live service forza but no hate for it? Gt7 has been giving free updates which adds cars and tracks on a regular basis but was torn apart for always online and offering a way to buy currency if u wanted.

We don't count unfortunately if the journos don't do their jobs and call out the ridiculous nature of this game's campaign always online requirements DLC and more it just proves how slanted towards Xbox everyone in gaming media is. The fans didn't ask for this. Starfield looks OK but so did FM 2023 when it was first shown... now look at it. Of course it remains to be seen what state other Xbox games ship in but FM 2023 looks really bad.
