The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Surpasses 60 Million in Lifetime Sales

Bethesda Game Studios has announced that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has crossed a whopping 60 million in lifetime sales.

The last update was 30 million in 2016. Now it's double. Damn!

That's what happens when you re-release the same game over and over for more than 10 years on every platform available.

ApocalypseShadow318d ago

This is very true. But I only bought it and played it once out of all the releases. And that was in VR. It was very cool. Actually feeling like you are there.

Wish they did more VR like it. But Microsoft purchasing them and other devs killed any future VR from them for now.

excaliburps318d ago

LOL! Yeah. We should get Skyrim 100th Year Anniversary Edition on the PS15 or something.

shinoff2183318d ago

Shadow, that's one of my regrets was I never got to play that before I had to sell my psvr. I was really hoping that psvr would've eventually got fallout 4 in vr but like you said that's out the window

Fonsecap318d ago

No, this happens when you release a great game. If it was bad, people wouldn't buy it even if there was 20 versions of it. Although I have to agree that this anniversary edition was too much.

Was the first RPG that I played on my old laptop. Crazy how well it runs on low-end devices

shinoff2183318d ago

It's been released on so many consoles and such. Still really good though. Well bethesada sales will change alot from here on out

I'm not a dentist but I believe that's averages out at around 150 copies for every platform the game has appeared on.

I'm Replaying Skyrim (again), and So Should You

Replaying Skyrim after 13 years is a reminder of the progress made in western RPGs over the last decade, but also what's been lost.

anast21d ago

I tried, but it's a poorly made game that insults its customers.

lucian22921d ago

nah, only mods make it decent, and even then it's bad, and this is after i modded for at least 3 years

Nittdarko21d ago

Funnily enough, I'm about to play it for the first time in VR with 1000 mods to make the game playable, as is the Bethesda way

The 7 Best Western RPGs: Immersive Adventures

RPGs are often huge, sprawling endeavours. With limited playtime, we have to choose wisely, so here's the best western RPGs available today.

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave21d ago (Edited 21d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
