Sifu Has Sold 50,000 Copies on Steam in 2 Days

Sifu's developers have announced that its recent Steam release has been quite popular.

Terry_B755d ago

Glad it got a PC version finally.

Abnor_Mal754d ago

I thought it was already on PC with all the early mods that were out when the game released on PS4/5?

ApocalypseShadow754d ago (Edited 754d ago )

Same. I saw a Batman mod a long time ago. And a John Wick one I think. Must have not released on Steam though.

ocelot07754d ago

I believe it was epic store only for a year.

Amplitude754d ago

The Epic store isn't a real place

masterfox755d ago

currently 10% off until april 4th on Steam, go go go :D

Sonic1881754d ago (Edited 754d ago )

There's going to be a Easter sale too, right after April 4. I'm sure it will still be 10% off

jznrpg754d ago (Edited 754d ago )

Great game . I thought it was on Steam already must have been another storefront ?

I didn’t know as I played it on PS5 and don’t play PC anymore so I just assumed it was on Steam.
Speaking of Steam , one thing that is really unfortunate about PC is physical gaming is 99.8% dead.
When I was a PC gamer I only bought physical games. Yes I’m old lol.
You do see a few copies of some games on PC but it’s ultra limited. A big reason why I love console. I hope PS6 will let you add more than one SSD next time or new PS5 model will so I can use less external drives. I’d put 2-3 4TB drives on it if I could . I don’t play PC because of a lack of money I just like physical games, exclusives on PS and to a lesser extent Nintendo, and generally there are less issues.

PC gaming was bigger back in the day. Tons of games you couldn’t get on console so I had both and enjoyed them both . But as time has gone on PC ports are poor too often , no physical games or value if there is one and the biggest reason I don’t play PC is lack of exclusives . There is some indie stuff like Muv Luv I want to download on my laptop but not anything beyond smaller stuff and most of it is not interesting to me.

Anyway totally off topic buzzed rant off . I do miss having a beast of a PC but I want games that aren’t anywhere else and the only one I can think of that’s higher tier is Star Citizen and that’s a super scam right now . Really rant off .
Hopefully someone starts making big AAA PC only games especially RPGs/JRPGS and I’ll go back but I’ll still be disappointed in the lack of physical games forever.

I use to game on PC back before all the high end system came along hell they probably already existed IDK I just put the disc and played. I would go to Kmart and they had pc games in the isle. 2 in 1 games. 2 fighting games like snk games or rpgs and others like commandos and GTA1 or 2 which by the way is my only GTA game i own. I still got them all but I did had 1 digital downloaded game. Crimson land which apparently came out on ps4 the other year ago which I already had for a decade+. Well I dont have anynore because it was digital and there wasnt an account or store back then. I also had random games like fighterFX and silver.
These days playstation has all the needs but steam does have games that I want thats not on consoles. For other it could be for playing uncensored games that are censored on consoles. Also great for playing games like hifi without owning a Xbox. Thats where steam deck comes around as a pc handheld companion or anyother handheld pc. It just need that switch docking that boost it up more for playing it on tv.

blackblades754d ago

Also physical games are cheap
https://i.postimg.cc/85vp4r...

Walmart had wo long for $15 and mones was $33 which I missed because of stupidity.

MasterChief3624754d ago (Edited 754d ago )

Yeah it was on Epic Games Store for a while! Only just recently debuted on Steam. :)

MasterChief3624754d ago

Is 50,000 really that good? It sounds like a pretty small number in this day and age...

stupidusername754d ago

I thought the same. On its first release it sold 500.000 in 48 hours which was impressive for a independent game studio. 50.000 is quite low in comparison. But if it’s a good or bad number I don’t know.

CantThinkOfAUsername753d ago

It's good for a PC release a year later. These kinds of games don't shift big numbers on PC.

1nsomniac753d ago (Edited 753d ago )

It’s £1.5m in cash. So yes it’s good. Just goes to show how skewed peoples opinions of the industry and why people really need to understand the price hike of games has nothing to do with covering costs but making staggering profit margins.

This is a £30 game, imagine selling “only” x50,000 £70 games = £3.5m

stupidusername753d ago

It all depends on how much it cost to develop. You can’t just say 50.000 equals 1,5m in profit. You also have to subtract money spent on peoples wages, marketing, technology and equipment, rent/facilities, electrical bill, and probably a ton of other costs.
That’s why it’s hard to say if 50.000 is a good or bad number.

'people really need to understand the price hike of games has nothing to do with covering costs but making staggering profit margins.'
How so? Games haven’t increased in price in decades, yet games costs way more to develop. If you consider inflation a N64 game back for 70$ in 1999 would cost close to 130$ today. Saying that the price increase has nothing to do with covering costs is beyond me.

1nsomniac753d ago

Someone’s missed the point entirely. They made that over 2 days. On a game that is over 12 months old and has already been selling for the last 365 days.

If you think game development is a struggling industry you need to get a grip on reality.

Why do you think every company and it’s dog is trying to get into the industry or name their products with a “gaming” tagline - because theres massive profits to be made. Because 1. It’s easy money and 2. You people are so gullible.

stupidusername753d ago

'Someone’s missed the point entirely. They made that over 2 days. On a game that is over 12 months old and has already been selling for the last 365 days.'

I still don’t get your point. You still haven’t presented any numbers that suggest this being a major success.

I’m not going to bother answering the speculative other half of your comment. You’re arguing with a straw man.
