Pavlov VR Review – Straight Shooter On PSVR 2

Pavlov is a solid VR multiplayer shooter that thrives in its tactile interactions and gunplay. It’s the game you and your buddies will play together every Friday night. Its arsenal of guns are satisfying to use and are accompanied by some great sound design, with enough game modes to keep you busy. On PSVR 2, the adaptive triggers and headset feedback make everything feel more weighty as well.

No game quite gets my adrenaline going quite like Pavlov. It gives a fantastic Counter-Strike-like multiplayer experience on PSVR 2 that should keep fans of the genre coming back for more.

There's WAY more to do in this game than I expected - some fun, quirky modes, as well as the usual ones. the whole thing is just so slick and you feel like a badass. Mods are on the way too, I heard!

don't know which of these military shooters to get. Ain't there two more around the corner as well? Is there a bot/zombie mode to learn the mechanics before hopping online? I ask because I hate shooting range tutorials and I'd rather hear the info from a fellow gamer who owns it. You mentioned the bevy of modes.

2023 is just so stacked. We don't know about quality yet but the quantity is sure gonna be there. I'm gonna have to be more selective this year. Already like 20 titles I'm interested in and you know another 5-10 you forgot about will drop!

Yeah, there's at least 3 more off the top of my head, but they all seem like a varied bunch. Pavlov is the established PCVR go-to military shooter and they've added loads to it thanks to packed lobbies. PSVR2 supports crossplay and is supposed to be getting mods soon too, which makes for a deeper, varied package. Yes, there are shooting ranges, where you can practice reloads, etc and yes there is a zombie mode (single player or multi). They also brought out a 'lite' version on Quest 2 called Pavlov Shack... it was better than a kick in teeth, I guess!

Firewall Ultra is PSVR2 exclusive, building on what they learned with Firewall Zero Hour (OG PSVR exclusive and probably the best tactical shooter in VR). In the first game there were matchmaking issues and you could spend more time waiting than playing, but you always got a match. It really needed more modes. they've addressed both issues for Ultra and added in all the fancy PSVR2 stuff, since it's designed exclusively for that tech. This Rainbow 6 in VR - great fun.

Crossfire Sierra Squad looks like dumb fun, kinds more COD-esque, faster-paced, visceral action and lots of 'splosions. Crossfire as a franchise has had a chequered past, with their last game being Series XS exclusive and an absolute turd. Check out the trailers, though - VR is a different beast and they likely started from scratch. It looks like a laugh, but we'll see.

Ghosts of Tabor looks tactical again, but looks more open and has survival elements. Think DayZ, ARMA and the like, far deeper than the others and you'll need to plan your attacks more, gearing up in advance and making sure you go in strong.

It really depends what you're after. There are LOADS more shooters on the way, but those are the military ones that spring to mind right now, all confirmed for PSVR2 this year. We're gonna be busy!

Is there a campaign ? Not really into multiplayer but I’m not totally adverse to it .
I’d love a single player shooter campaign but I don’t know about shooters much as they are the games I play the least

Same I’m looking for a single player shooter, which is why I’m waiting on Crossfire, that seems more my kind of game as it has single player and co op with 60 missions.

Never was really into multiplayer games much, thr only ones I’ve played were Killzone2/3 majorly and a little Resistance. Games like Ghost Recon Wildlands and The Division was cool with friends tho.

My thing with mp and why I’m not that fond of it is because you’re dependent on other people to have fun. Booting up a game then waiting at times to find an active lobby, or worse when it’s just a few people running around in the game and it’s a big map so you hardly see anyone. Even worse when you’re the only one in the game either because the game fell off or everyone is either at school, work, or doing/playing something else.

So yea give me single player any day.
