In fact, I haven’t stopped playing it yet. It is not, however, a game that deserves the label of “next-gen only”, as its performance is outshined by many other PS4 and Xbox One games. This wasn’t enough to stop me from enjoying it. Listen, I'm on Case File 4 and I honestly really enjoy the game. I'm actually shocked at the negativity. True, there are some fundamental flaws with the optimization and technical issues. I've ran into 3 crashes, but I don't see that making the game to be a 4/10 or a 5/10.

7 and 8's seem to be truly objective scores. I'm not sure if people had chips on their shoulders or what when they reviewed this game, but out of the gate I've seen nothing but negativity towards this game and I feel it's unwarranted.

I mean how do you describe the scores for a game that’s good with technical flaws, mainly its optimization?

I’m using the Arkham games as a form of measurement. I guess you’re right though, good or bad games can’t exist due to subjectivity.

i was really looking forward to this game, and i actually would have got it at launch, but the frame rate and other performance issues are unacceptable to me. will wait for a decent sale and hopefully they would have cleaned it up by then.

Playing on pc, using my 3080 Alienware machine people swore was trash machines been amazing. Runs this smooth 60+ and with my Gwynn monitor dont have any screen tearing. Now I can’t speak for the console experience but playing it on my steam deck it runs great as well and that’s 800p 30 so I’m sure 4K 30 high settings is great on consoles.

That depends on the context on that statement. There is a reason why Alienware is disliked in PC circles (especially when you take into consideration the absurd pricing of Alienware HW).

As for Gotham Knights, developers already confirmed they will add the 60 FPS mode for consoles (...) however that won't fix the existing issues when it comes to gameplay, graphics and narrative.

Literally nothing wrong with those three categories for me right now. Gameplay is solid with a nice variety of characters to choose from. Graphics look fantastic and narrative is subjective. Right now it’s simple Batman’s dead and you are playing as the inheritors of his legacy.

Why do y’all keep acting like games all have phenomenal narrative? I wasn’t going into this looking to cry I went in looking to fight crime, clean up Gotham and have fun.

I am yet to see anyone here insinuating anything of the sort. There is good narrative, mediocre narrative and bad narrative. Gotham Knights falls somewhere between the last two, judging from the initial reception across all platforms.

Everything is subjective, not only the narrative (...) except technical aspects which can be objectively proven (resolution, FPS count, number of bugs).

If you are looking at the graphics from a subjectively bad perspective then you can pick and choose anything you PERSONALLY thinks constitutes bad. As far as I have seen the game graphics hold greatly. I’m playing highest settings on a 3440 X 1440p screen and the detail in buildings and atmosphere simply pops. Performance is solid and with the exception of a few bugs nothing is so bad it’s impossible to perceive.

This isn’t assassins creed unity graphics where characters faces aren’t rendering. It’s not even like Arkham knight where you randomly fall through the maps at times. That happened to me SEVERAL times playing on PS4 still was a great looking game.

Objectively speaking on graphics the game is extremely polished and looks great. I really don’t believe you have played it since you are “judging from initial receptions”.

This is something that happens frequently on this site. Not just on this game but others that haven’t even come out. Both people bashing a narrative from a trailer of all things. And praising other games narrative from teaser clips and “their past experience with the dev!” This happens with cyberpunk where people SWORE it was going to be the next narrative epic. We see how that turned out.

At the core what matters most in a game is consistent gameplay and fun. Both of which Gotham Knights delivers AND with multiplayer it’s a blast.
