Introducing the God of War Ragnarök Behind the Scenes series

From PS Blog: "Since the very first moment of development on God of War Ragnarök, our team at Santa Monica Studio has made hundreds of decisions each day that have shaped this game into the experience and story that we are about to share with you on November 9.

Over the course of this journey, every single team member who has touched God of War Ragnarök in one way or another has left their mark, each with their own perspective that has given life to everything you will see, hear, and interact with at launch.

The story of God of War Ragnarök is not only that of a father and son who must confront the coming tides of war, it is also the story of the individuals who chose to devote their time, skill, and passion to build this game together in the face of unprecedented uncertainty during a global pandemic."

I appreciate the work they put into this stuff, but I can't watch it until I've played the game! I worry I'll regret it lol

MrVux000557d ago

Yea, these kind of things are best watched after you finish your games. Granted, they most likely have no spoilers, but why take a chance. lol

MIDGETonSTILTS17557d ago (Edited 557d ago )

I try to avoid watching trailers at all. You might wanna skip this one because it does show you levels and enemies and stuff. But, I don’t think any major beats are shown, like revealing Odin or something monumental like that.

Keep fighting curiosity, you know you’re gonna play it ;)

So I just watched it and there are no spoilers that I noticed. First few minutes of the video is just a synopsis of what happened in the first game and in the rest of the video there are no new locations that I saw that we haven't already seen before. There are 2 locations from the first game they showed but now they are covered in snow which didn't spoil anything because well winter is coming lol. There are a few new scenes but they are each like 1-2 seconds long so maybe 5-10 seconds of new footage but didn't reveal anything new story wise or gameplay vise. Overall I enjoyed it and again to me I didn't notice any spoilers in the video. But I understand you not wanting to watch it and keep everything a surprise.

the only spoiler (if we can call it that) is them admitting they decided to wrap things up in this game instead of making it a trilogy. So the pandemic did lead them to make that decision when they had enough story content to make a 3rd.

Which alludes to the fact that this game will be even bigger than the first because they are rounding things out to make it the finale.... to the norse mythology at least.

I really hope that fur-cloak will be a part of the customization options for the entirety of the game.

I am right there with all of you who do not want to watch anything about this game before I get to play it. God of War has been my favorite series of all time and God of War 2018 still stands as my favorite game of all time (been playing videogames since I was 8 in 1976, so that's a pretty hefty compliment).

But, despite that, I watched the video... I'll just say there are a very few new little snippets of Ragnarok that you see but definitely no spoilers. As usual with Sony, and especially Santa Monica, the video is excellent and just makes you even more excited for the game.

Good luck to everyone between now and 09Nov22 staying away from any spoilers. I will be playing this game non-stop until I am done. I do not know if it will eclipse God of War 2018 but I do have high expectations.

Enjoy it everyone. Skal!

“ It's a great excuse to jump back into the fray with videogame’s second favorite Spartan.”

So you’re saying that the game Hades and its star character, never played it, are bigger more well known and liked than Kratos and the God of War series?

Armyofdarkness110d ago (Edited 110d ago )

He obviously means Kassandra, right?

Gamehard110d ago

I don't think the MC from Hades is a spartan though. Not 100% sure, but yeah I don't know of any other spartan game character that's more popular than Kratos.

Psychonaut85110d ago

Im guessing he’s speaking more broadly and is referring to Master Chief as the most popular “Spartan”

Abnor_Mal110d ago (Edited 110d ago )

That’s likely who it is, I don’t if Master Chief can be considered a “true” Spartan like Kratos lol.

Master Chief Spartan label is just a rank given in the Halo military, sorry not a Halo gamer so I have no clue what their army is called in the game.

But is Master Chief really more popular as a Spartan, interesting question.
