with this game no. With previous entries, yes.

Crazyglues955d ago

The game is utter trash now, I regret buying it at 29.99 when it was on sale, at first I was having fun and found my self happy I picked it up for a steal...

Then the updates happened and like everything DICE touches, they seem to really mess this thing up, and now I don't even play it anymore because after the update I could not just play how I was playing they changed how you pick maps / not a big deal but feels weird, like another unwanted change to something that was fine before.

Not sure what is going on with shooting but its just not fun now, seem to die quick, maybe it's me, maybe I got to use to COD cold war multi-player, but either way the game is a waste of time for me now.. I just don't get how they keep getting off track with the feel, why can't it just feel like the amazing shooter Battlefield use to be..

I have no hopes for this game getting back on track, it's like a dumpster fire, there is nothing left to save here, you did it wrong.. it's done.

Xenial955d ago

I've been getting my BF fix from Battlefield 4. It seems to be the only FPS I can truly enjoy, these days.

isarai956d ago

Let it burn and die as an example of how far gone they've veered from what makes the series what it is. No one asked to turn it into a hero shooter.

JEECE955d ago (Edited 955d ago )

I mean, people kind of did when they ignored BFV (the last class-based BF) to play a bunch of games with "operators" and "specialists." When DICE saw their fan base skipping a class-based BF and playing Rainbow Six Siege instead, they assumed that's what people wanted.

BlackTar187955d ago

Why would they try and mimic a game that iother then being a shooter not even close to it at all?

fingazblank955d ago

I'd imagine they had some sort of pr think tank kinda scenario and had to develop the game on trends, with charts and some blue haired lady saying this is what people want, having no clue about what a bf fan wants, she could talk all the live long day about social structures and the patriachy and read out a few graphs from powerpoint, but that was it, lets go with what she said.

No wonder all the decent imagination of dice left.

frostypants955d ago (Edited 955d ago )

BFV's problems were all in execution. It felt like a step backwards in so many ways. People didn't ignore it because they wanted hero shooters. They ignored it because it was inferior to prior BF games.

fingazblank955d ago

Nope, we never wanted that crap, ever... I played bf 2042 for 1 day, it was horrendously bad, they changed so much until there was hardly any game left worth playing.

They got all political back in the BF1 days, With "The Message" turning people away from it, but that turned out to be a great bf game but hardly anyone cared. Good ole EA kept the momentum going with V, but still it was quite enjoyable. I have played litterly all the battlefields that was worth playing (bf heroes anyone, no one) on xbox, xbox 360, pc.. Never missing a beat, but 2042, god no, even for a tenner they can jog on, lesson learned you imbociles.

bondsmx955d ago

You should give it another try bro.

I played for a few weeks. And the game was just off at launch.

I returned 6/8 months later and it is wayyyy better now. Maybe even good.

They fucked up by releasing it broke. Though, they lost most of the player base right from the jump.

franwex955d ago

What happen to $5? I’ve paid $5 for most battlefield games. Maybe in a month.

Elda955d ago

With no campaign I wouldn't buy it for $1.

frostypants955d ago

BF games originally/traditionally didn't have campaigns. The online was so good that it could stand on its own. Keyword: WAS.

Elda955d ago

I played the ones with the campaigns including COD. If doesn't have a campaign I don't play. I'm not into the competitive MP.

ChiefofLoliPolice955d ago

There was never any glory to be had with this piece of dog shit. Next time make a proper Battlefield game. Or hell just give us a full top to bottom BF3 or 4 remaster. I'd take that.

JEECE955d ago

If they launched a true remaster of 3 or 4, people would be whining within weeks about how all the maps are old and how we need new maps and seasons and Rick and Morty skins and how DICE just "launched the game and abandoned it."

Just redownloaded the game. I wonder if it is still active

Steve_Gamer231d ago

Yeah it will be, the game just recently got a Update 1.59 Patch in September.

Vince Zampella: Battlefield "Absolutely Can" Outsell Call of Duty; BF2042 Was Not a "Failure"

Battlefield franchise boss thinks Battlefield "absolutely can" outsell Call of Duty, but says they're not targeting that with the next entry.

Feel like if that were true, we would have seen it during the BF3/4 era. Just focus first on releasing a Battlefield that's actually feature complete, well put together, that people actually want to play right out of the gate. Hoping Zampella can make this happen.

JEECE250d ago

The best opportunity was BF1 vs. Infinite Warfare. I've never actually seen a worldwide sales comparison so I'm not convinced BF1 didn't eventually win, but I do know COD sold better in the US at launch, because it was the NPD #1 that year, while BF was #2.

SonyStyled250d ago

The best opportunity was with BC2 and BF3. BF4 dropped the ball with a short campaign and bugged multiplayer at launch

Cacabunga250d ago

Release a decent game and let the mouth to eat do the rest.. you choose to release another BF4 then blame yourselves for it

JEECE249d ago

@SonyStyled

Definitely not BC2. I love the Bad Company games (even though everyone always pretends the first one didn't exist), but even though BC2 has achieved great respect in hindsight, at the time it came out a lot of casuals who bought COD every year either didn't know of Battlefield's existence or saw it as a knockoff of COD. Plus coming out in spring 2010 it was competing against MW2 (the original one) which came out the prior fall.

ChronoJoe250d ago

I mean, the title of the game doesn't have a lot to do with how it sells. The next game is not going to change things but Zampella course change the course of the series towards something that's more on track with that those big player numbers.

With that said, battlefield fans might not want that. To acquire the wider audience they would probably need to betray a lot of the series design principles. Call of Duty is as popular as it is because it is as simple as it is.

"BF2042 Was Not a "Failure"

Suuuuuuure thing little buddy...

excaliburps250d ago

In his defense, BF2042 did turn things around eventually though still falls short of franchise expectations if you based it on BF4, BF3, BF1.

trez1082250d ago

Hated it at lunch, came back a two years after and it was an absolute blast. Not sure how it did sales wise to be called failure or success but BF2042 is a pretty good game .

ElaBosak249d ago

In what way was it a failure exactly?

Outside_ofthe_Box250d ago

Microsoft would just buy EA if that happens.

8bitAssassin250d ago (Edited 250d ago )

We don't need more games ruined. It's like that company puts water on their bread before they eat it.

Inverno250d ago

Here we go again with rubbing mouths. BF has been a flop consistently since BF4, and I mean flop as in disappointing to the fan base due to the technical issues each has had and the gameplay changes needlessly made. Shut up and make a good BF before hyping up another potential disappointment.

Fishy Fingers250d ago (Edited 250d ago )

Bro gave one pretty decent interview and answered the questions he was asked. Not really his fault if people want to cherry pick quotes for "content".

Stick to reading source https://www.ign.com/article...

X-23250d ago

I don't mind them claiming BF2042 wasn't a failure so long as they learned from it and use that experience moving forward into the new game, it was terrible at launch but towards the end it got a bit better. I don't want to see the same thing play out with the new BF though because the ones who are still interested in the franchise have been pretty vocal with what they want and don't want from Battlefield.

ElaBosak249d ago

Learn what exactly? The game was great.
