FINALLY!!! weird how hardware and software capabilities for destruction in games has continued to evolve greatly and yet no one has been doing it. Been wanting physics and destruction to come back to the spotlight for a LOOOONG time, especially with these new consoles as the leap in CPU power could easily pull off some amazing stuff. I hope this game is a success, i want to see more like this
Yeah, and Killzone 2 was pretty impressive in that area too, with damage to masonry, gas cammisters catching fire and dancing around, that sort of thing.
BC2 was great, but Red Faction: Guerrilla had even better destruction. Can't believe all that tech was basically binned in their future games - Saints Row reboot :(
i think it has to do with the work they have to do they get it to work properly. All that rubble falling must not be easy to program especially without bugs or glitches
There really was that sweet spot near the beginning of the ps3/360 era where interactive physics and destruction were really being pushed. I feel like we're in a perfect time for that to come back with the new CPUs, just waiting for them to notice and do it, hopefully this game is the first step.
I'm hoping it will have traditional team modes. I'm also sick of Battle Royale. I can play Battlefield, Cod, Halo,Gears, Killzone and know on my worst days playing with randos I have a 50 percent chance of winning. Playing Apex lately, just a bunch of sweaty pros even in silver ranks where just getting in the top 10 out of 20 in the match makes me feel like I accomplished something because my teammates are on the other side of the map or not trying to get inside the ring. A shame because I had a lot of fun the first two years.I don't have a consistent schedule so I can't find reliable teammates, just give me respawns so it doesn't feel like I wasted 10 minutes trying to get a weapon that doesn't feel useless without finding 10 different attachments for it.
I remember when Mercenaries 2 was going to let us knock skyscrapers into skyscrapers to create a domino effect. Then the game got rebooted mid development and was worse than the first one.
Seems really promising. It must be really challenging for devs to design a map when this level of destruction is possible. Games like COD and BF are very careful to have certain chockpoints and sight lines, this changes that a lot.
in an alt. reality ...where ubisoft continues to be late-90s-early-2000s ubisoft ... yea you can not in this one. Ubi prefers to make "tom clancy punk rock mosh pit"-gibberish games now instead. ... basically, if they decide they'll remake the first R6 game faithfully without any live service injection - then yea, there's hope
Back when thought games like Red Faction, Killzone 2, Mercenaries, Black, etc would usher in a new age of interactive physics destruction. When we saw 8 days tech demos destruction and it was cancelled. Same with Killing Floor.
Next gen games start with giving gamers what we see above in the gif. In flat games and in VR. The fun factor would be insane. Not pretty background objects that do nothing when interacting with it.
This tech was done with Red Faction Guerrilla on super duper last gen consoles like PS3 and 360! I wanted developers to focus on that so much back then man! The multiplayer for Red Faction at the time was really fun, especially with the hammer 🔨 for melee combat. They should reboot Red Faction Guerrilla for PS5 and Series X and build that game for the ground up for those consoles and PC. We should be seeing earthquakes destruction as well now in games. Time for a game like this to compete against COD and Battlefield. We need something different!
Don’t worry it won’t look like this. Don’t know why people do this every single release, every single year. It’s like people have the memory of a fish.
Already intrigued.

This looks freaking awesome. Looks like what Battlefield should have evolved into.
