God of War Ragnarök gameplay footage shows off new weapon abilities

A new God of War Ragnarök gameplay video has shown off some of the sequel’s updated combat features for the first time.

This looks amazing, the combat looks to be so advanced upon the original, it looks faster, aggressive and more diverse, the combos look smooth and now with the added shield combat you just know its gonna be a deep combat system.

I also love that the enviroments have more scope to them, instead of a flat ground like arena you have more vertical and unique ways to approach each encounter, my goodness my hype levels are through the roof.

Nice to see the combat (which was already fantastic in 2018’s game) expanded upon. The little combat here shows Kratos being more agile, which I like, but also, the combats looking aggressive, fun, and explosive.

Also, I really like how there’s some verticality to the level design (much like with Last of Us Part 2 in its gameplay) and that just will add so much more strategy and fun to the combat in Ragnarok.

I got the platinum for the last game so I really should be able to remember, but could you jump in it? Looks like there's a lot more mobility in this one but I'm not sure what specifically has changed.

Yeah I think you just a traversal button and Kratos will jump mantle or whatever for you. Looks to be the same here. Typically I don't like games without jump buttons, but I feel like with GOW it would mess up the combat.

Game looks stunning and smooth for sure. I know i will get down voted for saying anything negative, but the lack of any kind of physics does kind of stand out here. Every single enemy does the exact same animation for hits which is even more apparent when you do an area attack and 3 creatures fly in the air and flip over in a synchronized manner. Some sort of ragdoll or procedural animation would make this look so much better visually (especially after the incredible physics of TLOU part 1). Not going to ruin the experience by any means, but I personally feel like physics should be just as important as graphics in games.

It was confirmed that Santa Monica has a different project helmed by Cory that's not God of War that would probably release 3-4 years from now. They don't have time to do another GoW game this generation, unless this generation lasts longer than previous ones.

There are 2 groups within SSM. Notice how Cory isn't directing Ragnarok. They have people who will end of working on all projects, but there are a significant number of people who will be working on separate projects. Watch the making of god of war 2018, cory talks a bit about it .

That second game has already been getting worked on, Do you believe he has been doing nothing for the last 4 years? Furthermore even if it takes 6 years for the sequel ( it absolutely 100% will not) that is still in the ps5 generation. Ill bet you 2 years from now his other game will come out and 2 years from then god of war 3 will come out.

Of course this all assumes the ending to ragnarok sets up a third game rather than something different.

I love how the combat looks and feels upgraded Santa monica one of the only devs that push PlayStation consoles to their limits, it’s really sad that most devs don’t even try and make great games smh plus the new saints row shows it they don’t make enterable buildings I wish a dev would make the ultimate openworld game I’m tired of good series getting held back

Hi I've been gone away from gaming For awhile.
And I'm not impressed by what has changed since I've been gone. This basically one of the top games coming out. And all of them (new videos games) look not much different than PS4 days. Imo
