I think it has something to do with Sony being able to save on manufacturing costs because they only make one version and then stick a digital code inside.

I watched both collector edition unboxings and it said digital code for both. They should put the 5 disc in the case and still include the 4 code. The hammer is cool though.

I knew the game was ready but I have to admit I thought Sony may have chosen February 2023 as MS had nothing for Xmas also Sony normally leave holidays for the 3rd party to fight it out.

Normal as since the PS4 but a lot of people forget/too young to remember PS having exclusive releases during the holiday season every year. Uncharted 1-3 were November releases if I remember correctly. Same with the Resistance series. Littlebigplanet series are still end of year releases. GoW and Killzone were February/March releases

Every company, 1st and 3rd party usually tries to have a big release ready for the holidays. And November works best because it’s out before Xmas, so there’s some hype, and anyone who didn’t buy it at launch can ask for it as a gift.
