The RT version on PC has some optimization issues and has shader compilation stutters.
Resolution scaling is broken and TAA isn't working either.
And there's issues with DirectX 12 as well ... since the RT version is Dx12 only
And add to all that the RT version is not mod-friendly like the previous PC version.

iplay1up21067d ago (Edited 1067d ago )

Looks way better on Series X enabled. I compared it on and off. The reflections were spot on.

RaidenBlack1067d ago

It looks good on PC as well ... I was talking about the performance and the bugs.

I miss the dlc in the new versions. Bought the pack with the classic soundtrack, but can't be used on the ps5 version unfortunately.

LucasRuinedChildhood1067d ago (Edited 1067d ago )

If you bought DLC for the PS4 version, it's listed as free for the PS5 version.

You just need to "Add to library"/download the DLC for the PS5 version and you're good to go.

MrBaskerville1065d ago

Ah, that makes sense, just assumed it would carry over, but it's a new app. Gotta download it asap for my next playthrough.

jBlakeeper1067d ago (Edited 1067d ago )

Yes you can. You just need to go where it shows you the dlc available for RE2R in the PS Store and download all of the dlc again. I thought the same thing when I first booted it up and none of the dlc costumes were unlocked. It’s the same for RE3R.

Orchard1067d ago (Edited 1067d ago )

You can still get it.

On PS - it's just not very user friendly/well designed - you have to reacquire it from the store, but it's $0.

On Xbox - Smart Delivery handles it and it will automatically install the next-gen updates and the DLC again.

On PC... read this article.

So RT continues to be performance-killing feature that only justifies its existence in about 1 out of every 10 instances it is used?

lonewolf101067d ago

Only on games that shoe horn it in, if a game is built around it fares a lot better, but yeah RT does affect performance obviously, but not to that degree if the game is built for it.

Chriswynnetbh1067d ago

Been thinking the same thing about RT lately. Feels like it solely exists just to justify pushing out more powerful hardware. For how much it affects performance I'd expect it to look mind blowing but it really isn't that impressive. Majority of the time I disable it if I can just to get more fps out of my 2080/5900x and that's only pushing 1440p in 21:9. Really just isn't worth it imo.

Tapani1067d ago

My advise to PC gamers is to simply forget RT until it performs like Anti-Aliasing on all GPUs.

When I by default started turning off all RT options, I realized I enjoy games much more as they always fly and still look phenomenal. I don't _need_ realistic lighting or reflections. What I do need however, is good writing, great performances, fun and innovative gameplay, beautiful music, story worth playing through, artistic high resolution texture & 3d render work, fluid animations, and stable performance. Lighting, shadows and reflections are on the bottom of my list of what I seek in games.

Funnily enough, only four games that fulfill my requirements that have RT: Deathloop, Control, Metro Exodus and Hitman III. And they all look extremely good without RT. Just learn to live without a mirror reflection and you are good to game!

Petebloodyonion1067d ago

I was one of the ppl who asked for a rollback simply because my game used to perform at 60 frames steady with D11 but had a lost of performance due to DX12.
My pc is an older rigs and upgrading means changing the whole motherboard.

abstractel1067d ago (Edited 1067d ago )

Does this mean that people with high-end rigs who want to play with RT on are now not able to get the RT version of RE2?

Orchard1067d ago

No, by default, you will still get the RT version.

If you want the old version / non-RT version, you have to opt into a beta via Steam: https://store.steampowered....

Petebloodyonion1067d ago

The DX11 version of the game can only enable if you select DX11 in the Beta tabs in the game property from the Steam menu.
If you do nothing the RTX version will be the default version going forward.

The same apply to RES3
