Adam from GamingAccessWeekly says: "Since the open beta back on April 21st Capcom delayed the competitive option with no release provided. After more than a year should Capcom even bother releasing this, the answer is yes."

For me... not really. I had forgotten it even existed until reading this article, and realistically, I bought RE2/3/Village for the story modes, not for the typical, tacked on, awful RE multiplayer games.

If Capcom wants to deliver an MP experience, give us an Outbreak 1+2 remake package, or Outbreak 3.

ocelot071072d ago

Agreed with all you said expecially the outbreak comment.

I honestly didn't realise this had yet to release. I though it released with RE Village last year.

pietro12121072d ago (Edited 1072d ago )

Not really. After playing the beta I’ve seen all it’ll offer and it ain’t much. Give us a Outbreak 3 or a remake. An online survival horror game would be so dope if done right. I can’t believe no devs have attempted this

CrimsonWing691072d ago

Honestly, I was hoping it got canceled. If Capcom wants to sell an MP RE game that will get a lot of sales for them, then they need to release Outbreak File 1 and 2 Remastered. I can’t fathom for the life of me why they haven’t done this yet.

KeyAppearance1072d ago

YEP! Exactly, if you want an MP Co-Op game for RE, literally just remaster those, you already nailed the formula with that, seriously.

Cackocacho1072d ago

Anymore? Not sure anyone ever did.

ZeekQuattro1072d ago

I don't even think Capcom cares about it at this point. Its all but disappeared. I have zero interest in it. I do want an update on the RE8 story expansion they announced at last years E3 however. What happened to that?

I'm surprised they didn't take it offline sooner.

If they want multiplayer so bad then remake Outbreak

Rangerman120878d ago

It's funny how they say that the game did admirably well, and yet the game is getting shut down while Umbrella Corps is still up and running lol

Knushwood Butt78d ago

Now this is a case where Steam stats would be interesting.

RaidenBlack78d ago (Edited 78d ago )

re:verse wasn't that bad but umbrella corps had wayy different vibes than other REs. (Played both once)
surprised umbrella corps' still up. maybe players still treat it as aggressive 3rd person CoD with zombies and its still working? movement speed was pretty fast.

Rangerman120878d ago

@Knushwood Butt if you're that curious, there's only two people playing umbrella corps right now lol

Knushwood Butt77d ago

@ Rangerman

Thanks!
That literally made me lol.
1 V 1 deathmatch?!
I guess they want to see what they will be missing.

All they have to do is give us a RE Outbreak sequel for coop missions, and we have instead gotten like 2 or 3 PvP games.

CrimsonWing6977d ago

I hope Capcom quits with these shoe-horned in competitive MP games. The ONLY RE MP games that should exist are Outbreak-styled Co-Op through a campaign. Why they haven’t decided to bring Outbreak out in this online MP world is beyond me.

Ah yes, this "love letter" to fans that missed two release dates, disappeared entirely until RE8 Gold Edition, and then released in the exact same state it went away in (Beta) despite all that time.

Baffling, really.

Resident Evil Re:Verse (PC) Review | VGChartz

VGChartz's Paul Broussard: "I guess the saving grace in all of this is that Resident Evil Re:Verse is free so long as you own Resident Evil Village, but does that really count as a point in its favor when this is such a bland, uninteresting offering to begin with? If you already own Village, I guess this might be worth a download for the 30 or so minutes of entertainment it can provide before things get old, but you’re not missing much if you don’t. There are better games available for free anyway, and most of them won’t make you wait two years before inevitable disappointment."

Balance issues, a lack of content, and aggressive monetization get in the way of good ideas.
