Runs better on PS5 vs Series x from what i've seen.

Deathdeliverer1181d ago

After watching both I will say they are virtually identical. Even the pop in on the section where he runs through the street is in the exact same spot. HOWEVER, that is also the only place where a difference shows. The section starts with a hard dip on Series X, followed by a quick 1-2 fps loss that’s quickly recovered. On PS5 it was a steady 60 the whole time. In the infamous car chase FPS killer section the PS5 seemed to drop a liiiiiittle less.
So yeah, according to this you’d be right, but man it’s mostly the exact same. Glad this person put like for like sections.

@Combinator, which games?

I would recommend taking a look at this link below. Far from being ‘FAR more games than not’

https://twitter.com/birkinw...

IanTH1181d ago

@HardKnock

That list seems to pretty much prove out "equal or better in more games than not", if nothing else.

29 games total.
--3 split, with each having 1 advantage.
--8 listed as "no significant difference"
--10 with overall PS5 advantage
--8 with overall Xbox advantage

So Xbox has 8+8+3 = 19 titles where it is either the same, equal to, or better than PS5
PS5 has 10+3+8 = 21 titles where it is either the same, equal to, or better than Xbox.

21/29 titles is far more titles than not where PS5 is equivalent or better than Series X. I mean, it is still kind of silly how much of a deal we make out of these differences - they are generally very minor differences either way the scale tips.

HardKnockKid241181d ago

@combinator what you DID say was misleading which is why I provided the graphic. If your point is that they perform similarly most of the time in far more games than not, then that by itself would be accurate, but when you toss in ‘OR BETTER’, your point becomes generalized to the point where it’s misleading. Truth is, there are games that perform better on PS5, and there are games that perform better on Series X. NEITHER CONSOLE is blowing the other out of the water.

HardKnockKid241181d ago

Lol ok man, I said what I said. If you disagree good for you. Have a great night.

S2Killinit1180d ago

I think performance being sliightly better on the PS5 is less relevant. The Dualsense is the real difference maker as it actually adds so much to the experience.

Atticus_finch1180d ago

Keep in mind PS5 starts at $100 less than Xsx. So PS5 is easily better.

Mr_Luke1180d ago

@HardKnockKid24

I hope you saw the disclaimer below that list:

" summarized and simplified by @BirkinWill (may contain mistakes/bias)"

Well... reliable :D I'm not saying it's not true, it could be exactly like that for what i care but when you link something it's better if you check first ;)

autobotdan1181d ago

It's a game by game basis on ps5 or series x running games better. A very small advantage maybe for PS5 for Cyberpunk..a very substantial large advantage for Series X over PS5 on King of Fighters XV. It's a game by game basis

Deathdeliverer1181d ago

KOF is substantially better on Xbox how exactly? If you’re talking about the input delay that is imperceptible and a controller signal difference, not a system difference. That can be made better through fine tuning. Totally different from graphics and running games. That comment was pretty funny to see. If you are saying it’s substantially better in another area please put the link.

autobotdan1180d ago

It's a very huge difference of input delay in favor of xbox series consoles over both Playstation 4 &5 consoles. Deathdeliverer your comment is very cute and funny

gamer78041181d ago

I was expecting more out of all of the next gen consoles on this. Oh think cdpr dug themselves a performance hole that’s hard to dig out of

asapas81180d ago (Edited 1180d ago )

Runs better on PC. Even the fact that PC has many more NPCs walking and existing around the player, says it all

Viljong1180d ago

I have series x and ps5 and the games i have for both systems are higher resolution on series x and run Much better. Becouse xbox support vrr and is in 120hz mode allways its much more responsive. Game doesnt have to run 120fps to take advance of 120hz mode. You know rift apart 120hz mode with 40fps is much better than the og 30fps mode.Talk about crysis remasters series x is much cleaner picture. Dying light 2 run about 90+fps average in 120hz fps vrr mode when ps5 is 60hz and 60fps. Becouse it doesnt even support vrr year 2022. Its obvious series x is the more powerfull system. Cyberpunk looks better on series x aswell having higher dynamic resolution. Far cry 6 is cleaner on seriex x too. Xbox is the better machine while ps5 have the exclusives. I buy every multiplat on series x becouse it perform little better and have dolby atmos support giving 7.1 pcm surround without avr passthrough, just eArc works

Jin_Sakai1180d ago (Edited 1180d ago )

“Runs better on PS5 vs Series x from what i've seen.“

I have both the PS5 and Series X version and played quit a bit of each. The PS5 version has better framerate while the Series X I’d say looks a bit sharper. If I had to choose one I’d got with the PS5 version.

neutralgamer19921180d ago

Just wait for patch 2.0 or even later. This should be just the starting point for next generation native versions. Now build on the foundation

franwex1180d ago

Im glad you guys are pausing the game and zooming, and counting frames to figure out which system is better. Seriously if that’s what one has to do, then it doesn’t really matter which system this game will make you buy.

Except that this game should not be a reason to buy a next Gen system.

Anyway, maybe I’ll fire it up again on my basic xbone. *groans*

Their raytracing mode is bullshit, virtually indistinguishable from the performance mode. Doesn't give me high hopes for the witcher 3 upgrade.

SyntheticForm1181d ago

Witcher 3 is an old game that, in theory, should be much easier to do the works on. Cyberpunk is a bit more complicated.

LucasRuinedChildhood1181d ago

A different studio is handling The Witcher 3 port (Saber Interactive).

cluclap1180d ago

I actually saw a noticeable difference. It also changes LOD as well.

Soulrakk1180d ago

All things considered, The DualSense is the difference-maker here. It's one of the best implementations I've seen & felt. They really did a great job on the next-gen patch for both consoles.

babadivad1180d ago

I bought this on Xbox before the next gen systems launched. What difference does the DualSense make in this game? Only games I have on both consoles is Control. While Dualsense was cool, it made my shots less accurate. I just finished the game on the XSX.

What makes this game so different?

DeadManMMX1180d ago (Edited 1180d ago )

Just played the opening 30 minutes on ps5 since I plan to Platinum it. Just after coming down from the radio tower I hopped in the car and drove back to town to see if I could talk to some NPC’s. I got out and walked over to an NPC near the edge of town who looked like he was cooking food on a grill. I walk around in front of him and immediately clip through him and the grill and rubber band all the way back to the top of the radio tower outside town then clip through the tower and fall to my death. Amazing and I recorded it for posterity. I waited over a year and this stuff is still happening lol. It’s ok though I’m playing it now I will just save often I’m enjoying it so far.

Crows901180d ago

Oh....umm ...you found an Easter egg!!!

Taero1180d ago

Lol, I managed to get the infamous T pose; went into the milsim training mode and the enemies were spawning in as T poses, when they moved then dropped back into regular animations but the section where you defeat 3 enemies had them T Posing in through the open doors before correcting. Wish I'd remembered to record it :(

franwex1180d ago

Lol. A bad game is still bad!

The ps5 Version is its own application, so maybe one can platinum again, right? That’s kinda nice.

DazaMc1180d ago

Still the same empty city, I was expecting the current gen versions to be teaming with life.

Zhipp1180d ago

From the looks of things they more than trippled the number of NPCs in most scenes over the last gen version. Just how many people did you expect to be running around everywhere?

Taero1180d ago

Wow, I was actually just thinking that things were looking pretty hectic and I was having to thread my way around people. Definitely didn't feel empty.

1nsomniac1180d ago (Edited 1180d ago )

I can confirm the PS5 version now pretty much matches the pc version. At least pre 1.5. I haven’t loaded up my pc version with the new update to see if it’s increased on there too.

ufo8mycat1180d ago

The PS5 version doesn’t even come close to the PC version, unless you have set the PC version to run at lowest settings.

DLSS should help the Nintendo Switch 2 with longevity

Profchaos20d ago (Edited 20d ago )

Based on so e of the impossible ports we saw on switch 1 I'm not worried about the hardwares longevity.

Next gen systems ps6 and next box might slow down switch 2 development but given leaks showing PlayStation releasing a new portable system around the same time as ps6 that can play ps5 games says that next gen cross gen seems to be poised to last the entire generation

And right now I'd say there isn't much that couldn't be scaled down to run on switch 2

Goodguy0121d ago

Nvidia or Nintendo need to come out and detail how dlss will work on switch 2. Like is it dlss4? Or just completely customized for the switch.

Tacoboto21d ago

I'm sure they've detailed exactly that in documentation provided to developers.

b00mFargl321d ago

It will probably be behind a $20 demo that we have to download. 😂

PRIMORDUS21d ago

I like to know as well, which version of DLSS? 2, 3, 3.5 or 4? I mean it's not that hard for Nintendo to say which version games will use.

Profchaos20d ago (Edited 20d ago )

Given the specs of the system and the time the hardware was produced if I had a stab in the dark I'd say a heavily customised dlss3

Neonridr21d ago

it's GPU is based around ampere technology, which is 3 series cards tech. So some features from DLSS4 can be ported down to older cards, just not some 5 series exclusive features like multi-frame gen.

Notellin21d ago

If they did what would that be even do for you?

originaljohn17d ago

Why do you care, are you a developer?

40fps docked is a interesting choice as it's in the vrr range but we don't have confirmation of vrr docked
