The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience for PS5 and Xbox pre-download now available

From Gematsu: "The free technical demonstration was created by members of the original movie team along with Epic Games and partners, and showcases “what’s possible when you combine the power of Unreal Engine 5 with PlayStation 5.”

According to the description, the experience “will be revealed” at The Game Awards 2021 on December 9."

Gaming4Life19811296d ago

frostypants1295d ago

I have things too! Hey who wants to hear what things I have?!

DJStotty1296d ago (Edited 1296d ago )

Like how this is painted as something exclusive to PS5, from the article :-

"The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience for PS5, Xbox Series pre-download now available"

“what’s possible when you combine the power of Unreal Engine 5 with PlayStation 5 / Xbox Series X|S.”

https://www.xbox.com/en-us/...

Please change title and article description to add Series S|X.

Very tactically omitted, i must say.

quenomamen1296d ago

And I’m sure you say the same when MS does this as well.

DJStotty1296d ago

I will indeed, tags, title's and descriptions should always be fully accurate, Xbox sections included.

mkis0071296d ago (Edited 1296d ago )

It's a quote. For all you know, just being on X doesn't mean it's showing what's possible on unreal engine 5 if the ssd is the limiting factor.

russo1211296d ago

Very good and valid point.

iplay1up21296d ago

The quote says "The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience for PS5 AND XBOX." It literally says "Unreal Engine 5 Experience" for BOTH consoles. How can you possibly interpret it any other way? You probably didn't even click the link, in the article to "learn more".

It says PS5 and Xbox Series consoles.

DJStotty1296d ago

@mkis007

The exact same "experience" is available on the xbox store, so it will be showcasing exactly the same features as the PS5 version.

People need to understand, that the UE5 features showcased a while back, Lumen and Nanite, are also available on Series of consoles.

CrimsonWing691296d ago (Edited 1296d ago )

Am I missing something here? The headline includes Xbox and the article mentions Xbox.

darthv721296d ago

It didn't initially. Looking at the submission info, the title was changed a few hours ago after submission.

SpineSaw1296d ago (Edited 1296d ago )

@CrinsonWings69
Yes but the "fanboys" can only read and see things the way they want to read and see them so it can fit their narrative.

DJStotty1296d ago

@Crimsonwing69

Xbox was added after my initial comment, and they still limited it to "xbox" as opposed to "Xbox Series S|X".

UltimateOwnage1296d ago

Well, Sony did pay some hard cash for minority ownership in the company and have gotten PS5 UE5 integration touted a bit more because of it: https://www.polygon.com/pla...

Babadook71296d ago (Edited 1296d ago )

Sure. But Ps5 was influenced by UE5 and vice versa.

Einhander19711296d ago

Yes but it's all about PS5 !!

A matrix game that's only in next gen? YES PLEASE

iplay1up21296d ago

The newer systems have been out for over a year. I think that makes it current gen. Yes I am glad they are purely focused on the newer hardware though.

Fishy Fingers1296d ago

CGI Keanu looking pretty lifelike.

1nsomniac1295d ago

Crazy life like. Genuinely took me a few seconds before I realised.

IanTH1296d ago (Edited 1296d ago )

From what I can tell, this is not hitting PC...it's UE5, why not? I don't have a new gen console yet, but have a capable PC. Not only strange to limit the audience, but they "partnered' with Epic...how is this not at least on the Epic store?

Eonjay1296d ago

I'm sure it will come to PC as well. Its coming to Series S after all. I also heard that the UE5 can also run on last gen consoles too.

Fishy Fingers1296d ago

UE5 can run on mobile phones. It's scalable.

Unreal Engine Lumen vs. Ray Tracing Explained: Software and Hardware

Unreal Engine 5 is the most popular game engine of 2025. Of course, it has its flaws, particularly concerning Nanite and Lumen, but the Epic logo is prominent among the most popular titles.
