Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Review - IGN

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is a fun single-player campaign full of cosmic comic book flavor.

At least it's better than the Avengers with no microtransactions. Wish it had a sprint button though

A pure narrative experience that we can get lost in. The industry needs to move forward with single player driven experiences like they use to.

How were they before? I feel like this kind of game is a sub-genre of third person games. Reminds me of the type of cinematic narrative driven games you typically find from Sony.

Are you referring to different genres?

Flewid6381282d ago

PlayStation's been focusing on that for decades.

Pleasantly surprised by these scores. Looks solid.

Anyone else disappointed there were no sales deals for this game? Nobody has a pre order discount or anything.

Even on the mighty pc I found no discounts. Square is being money hungry.

Tacoboto1282d ago

... I mean, they just built a critically-acclaimed single player game with no microtransactions, after people spent the last year saying that was everything they wanted after how Avengers was such GaaS crap no one wanted.

They don't exactly have an ongoing revenue stream planned for this! And you want a discount on it before it's even out? Damn

porkChop1282d ago

I don't think we'll see a sale too soon, assuming the game sells well.

CrimsonWing691282d ago

Lol, I thought this exactly. I mean geezus, it’s no wonder why games are going up in price if this is the mentality of game releases.

The Wood1282d ago

discount.......lol but the pre order (bonus skins, weapons etc) request isn't outlandish as that seems to be the norm nowadays

XbladeTeddy1282d ago

CD Keys has it for £35.99. Cheapest I found.

phoenixwing1282d ago

i don't really use cd keys because they're not a licensed seller

@pheonixwing

why not GamePass, right?

can't say I am. I'm more disappointed in the fact I can't get a F'n physical copy of a game on release day. Doesn't matter who I order from. Amazon has dropped the ball so many times in the past 3-ish years. I went with Walmart for this one to give them a shot and to get that steelbook they were offering. Left Chicago on Saturday evening when suddenly my package just went pOOf. Expected Delivery was Sunday, now, I won't get a replacement until next week. Tracking for that package still shows "potential delay & no delivery estimate available." And the only two options in town are Walmart, who are always sold out or don't even have the game and Meijer which has the WORST game selection I've ever seen in a retailer. I love my physical copies but ffs, I'm about to go postal...

Anyway if you want a sale you'll have to wait a month & pick it up Black Friday or hope it wins PS Players Choice for a discount. If both those options fail then just wait 2 months because it's guaranteed to drop $10-20 by then.

Guardians, Lost Eidolons, Stranded. This pack is a steal for the price.

ChasterMies235d ago

“Guardians of the Galaxy” is a great game and also a good reminder that despite protestations against more games as a service games, the market does not reward great single player games.

FinalFantasyFanatic235d ago

Guardians of the Galaxy had a different issue, being Square-Enix and customers getting burned with the Avengers game... Of course Guardians of the Galaxy was going to be a harder sell than it should have been, but that failure is on Square-Enix's shoulders.

MrWood177d ago

Their marketing was horrible for the game honestly. I think that’s what killed the hype— it was my game of the year and totally didn’t expect it based on trailers.
