From IGN: "After 15 hours of outmaneuvering infected villagers in VR, I have a newfound appreciation for Resident Evil 4. While the original version was my gateway into the Resident Evil series nearly 16 years ago, the moment I booted up this remake on my Oculus Quest 2, I knew Armature Studios had created something special. Resident Evil 4 was already an excellent game, but experiencing it in VR recaptured that feeling of playing it for the very first time.
The perspective has shifted, but no significant changes have been made to Resident Evil 4’s corny but easy-to-follow action-movie plot. You are still playing as Leon S. Kennedy, now a U.S. government agent in rural Europe to rescue the president’s daughter while fending off hordes of infected villagers and monsters. Sure, there are some references to earlier entries (specifically Resident Evil 2), but Resident Evil 4 was an effective entry point to the series for many people like myself because you don’t need to have played the previous games to know what’s going on."
Some nice deals available on the Meta Quest Store for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Resident Evil 4 VR has 40% OFF for example.
VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "Last year, VGChartz introduced Best VR Game as a new category. It was mostly inspired by the eventual winner: Half-Life: Alyx. Although this year didn't introduce us to a platform-defining experience of that caliber, VR still had a commendable year. One ongoing trend for this platform has been rock-solid ports of older iconic titles, and 2021 was no exception on that front. As the medium progresses, so too does every developer's knowhow about it. These nominees were among the best examples of that in 2021."
RE4 VR is honestly a game changer for me. Getting to experience the world of that game in VR is so surreal and it’s the best version of RE4, in my opinion.
Lame. But then, vgchartz is a lame site with fake numbers.
How were the games nominated? Why not have categories? Why not by platforms? How were other games not even nominated at all like Song in the Smoke or Hitman?
Article just threw out some games and threw out a winner with nothing said at all about the nominations.
What about fracked or song in the smoke. Not played song in the smoke yet, but loved fracked.
Definitely looking forward to moss 2, the first was amazing.
WTMG's Leo Faria: "More than just a fantastic killer app for the Oculus Quest 2, Resident Evil 4 VR is a killer app for virtual reality in general. Unlike Half-Life Alyx, this is a phenomenal shooter available on the cheapest, most readily available, and most comfortable VR system in the market. It features everything you have always loved from Resident Evil 4, but in a brand new perspective that turns what was already fun and immersive into something even more intense and memorable. Even if the behind-the-scenes shadiness makes you feel uneasy about purchasing a Quest 2, Resident Evil 4 VR is worth the admission ticket."
Can't wait to see Alyx announced for PSVR2, maybe some RE8 Village too. VR is on the up.
