The inclusion of the robot that chases you, which is almost impossible to evade, ruins an otherwise great game.

Einhander19711289d ago

I should say, it's one of best franchises ever!!

Lexreborn21289d ago

It's a good game, but it's not as amazing as these reviewers are making it out for. The biggest issue I have is that it isn't a 60 dollar game. This should've be 40 max

Neonridr1289d ago

based on how much playtime there is to the game I'd disagree.

Lexreborn21289d ago

https://howlongtobeat.com/g...

The game is 10 hours long max. And, I said this before the game feels and looks more along the lines of a 40 dollar game at best. But, there has been so many metroidvania style games at mind numbingly lower prices and dread isn’t doing anything wildly special.

Samus returns was 40 bucks and also a good fast game to beat. But, dread feels like a better version then that a 3DS title.

What are you really paying for in this 60? Nintendo name? Metroid name? I can careless if it’s disagreed on because there is still a strong amount of people who agree.

Neonridr1289d ago

guess that depends on if you want to find everything there is. You are entitled to your opinion. But we are entitled to disagree with that opinion. There's a reason why it's called Metroidvania. Sure there are copycats, but clearly this is one of the best 2D Metroid games we have seen in a long time.

Lexreborn21289d ago

It’s called Metroidvania because that’s the style castlevania and Metroid is known for. Not because it’s a special standard.

Castlevania mirror of fate takes the same amount of time and has just as much detailed poured into it. And it takes the same amount of time to finish as Dread. And it was far cheaper.

And in the same link I provided it shows the completionist time is averaged at 11 hours. So, again it feels like people are trying to make this game a special case instead of giving proper criticism for its price tag.

That’s exactly why Nintendo get away with things like this and undersell the fans expectations. They were dangling prime 4 for everyone then after realizing they couldn’t provide threw this at us with a uptic in price.

I for one am tired of Nintendo doing that crap. But, people would be quick to call a game like MM a dlc game… the times people decide to be critical and not is why this community doesn’t move forward.

Neonridr1289d ago (Edited 1289d ago )

@Lexreborn2 - then don't play it. Nobody is asking you to. Leave it to those who want to. It's reviewed as a great game because it's a great game. Shocker, I know.

I swear I've never seen people whine so much as they do when Nintendo games get good scores.

Lexreborn21289d ago

@Neon not one time was night complaint about playing it nor was it about the reviews. I said the game is good, but my complaint is on the asking price. Which for some reason you are plugging your ears over.

That’s the real shocker, people like you can complain about all next gen games being 70. But, you can’t understand how Metroid dread is over priced for its asking? That is really the baffling part

Neonridr1288d ago

The fact that you are saying it's not as good as these people are saying based on your personal feelings that the game is overpriced is ridiculous. Price /= Quality of game.

Have you beaten the game yet? How long did it take you? Give me your opinions once you do. I've only just started the game myself, so I can't fully comment. But from what I've played so far I love the game and it has a ton of polish considering it's only a side scroller.

Sure, it's pricey for a 2D game. But it's really good, so I can look past that. If you can't, then fair enough. That's your opinion. But don't say someone else's opinion is wrong, makes you look like a fool.

The 10 Biggest Nintendo Direct Moments of the Switch Generation

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Last week Nintendo held this year's surprisingly packed not-E3 Direct; with a full schedule for this year and a vague promise of a console successor next year, it's very possible that we've now seen our final Nintendo Switch Direct, or at least one with major first party reveals. That makes this a good time to sit back and reflect on a generation of Direct moments, from the shocking and surprising, to the joyous and exhilarating - and, quite often, all at once."

It’s good to see Metroid do well. Hopefully we hear something soon about Metroid Prime 4

Hereandthere634d ago (Edited 634d ago )

Wait up, 3 million worldwide out of a possible 120 million is considered good for a legendary franchise like metroid?

JEECE634d ago

Metroid has never sold super well. Lots of people under under the mistaken impression that, because franchises like Mario Kart, Smash Bros., 3D Mario games, more recent Zelda games, and Animal Crossing sell huge numbers, that all Nintendo franchises sell at that level, and that they always have.

This is pretty good for a Metroid. Dread will probably end up being the best-selling game in the franchise, if it isn't already.

Sciurus_vulgaris634d ago (Edited 634d ago )

Metroid Prime was said to have sold 2.8 million copies, so Dread is likely the best selling game in the series.

Rebel_Scum633d ago

Not everyone is a metroid freak ho ho ho

MetroidFREAK21633d ago

@Rebel_scum *squidward laugh*

ZeekQuattro634d ago

It took some doing but I'm glad it finally made it past that milestone.
