EA says FIFA 21 on PC won't get the PS5 and Xbox Series X features to keep the minimum specs down

Its soccer/football though. I highly doubt EA is doing something so incredible that it even needs top of the line anything. And even if they wanted to build for low specs PC (which it already runs fine on) why wouldn't you just give the users to select their settings. Even some console games let you adjust the graphic settings. They are lazy and they are cheap and they want to literally put the least about of money into copying and pasting this cash cow.

i love trashing EA like any other. but this is not a scum move. they are launching a free update on a game that not many people are gonna spent extra money anymore. fifa 22 is coming out in a couple of months. and now they added some features for free on the console for Fifa 21 thats one of the better things EA has done. although i dont care for Fifa personally.

shuvam091041d ago

Icymi, even FIFA 22 on PC is based on the last gen version. They just wanna milk the kids with lower spec PCs and their parents'cards

demonseye1041d ago

I mean yhea obviously it's EA and FIFA that hasn't changed since ever. but a free update for an old FIFA game is something they have never done. so I don't see that as a scum move the whole game in itself is definitely a scum move.

So basically lets not give people an incentive to pursue better hardware.

Why even make next gen games.

Fntastic1042d ago (Edited 1042d ago )

It's pretty much nonsense, this never stopped developers bringing games with high end graphics back in 2004 with Doom 3 and Half Life 2. If people don't want to upgrade that's their decision. Granted GPUs and CPUs are much more expensive now than they were back then.

I know some people don't upgrade for 5-10 years but IMO that's ridiculous. I'd rather upgrade every 2-4 years if the performance differences are there and generally in that time they will be, and now we are out of stagnation for CPUs we'll be seeing around 40% more uplift clock for clock by the end of next year alone from current stuff.

My longest kept CPU was my i7 920 until the 5820k in 2015, i doubt I'll be waiting that long again to upgrade with current advancements, and before that was an Athlon 64, and before that the Athlon XP 1500+ which was a great cheap CPU for its time. I went 3700x in 2019 and now with a 5800x.

KyRo1042d ago

It all comes down to money. If the game plays on more low end systems, the more potential there is for revenue. This is EA. Money is always first before logic.

rakentaja1042d ago

Selling more copies is much more important than giving you the desired version.

kryteris1042d ago

pc master race has been mostly a joke the last ten years. Most hardware is slightly better than modern apu's.

Bluemaster771041d ago

This is very dumb and wrong. Obviously you’ve never had the chance to use a powerful rig. I

OptimusDK1041d ago

But again that was not what he said. He said most hardware… and he is right.

ballisticvoodoo1041d ago

I know right? Why try and profit off a game that cost millions to make so you're happy. Seems senseless to me. I hate money.

JEECE1042d ago

I guess they forgot about scalability.

Inverno1042d ago

That would mean having to put some actual effort developing Fifa

SullysCigar1042d ago

In effort terms, EA = Eff All

RosweeSon1042d ago

They are only interested in profitability. Literally they don’t care about their games just that their fans will lap them up again even tho they still playing through last years 😏🤷🏻‍♂️ ✌🏻

Okay cool, Now they should be able to afford the licenses and contracts for classic cars, and classic tracks, and classic drivers in future F1 games. LOL.

philm87654d ago

100% the way they'll take it I think. Probably had the idea but not enough time to implement it.

peppeaccardo654d ago

Amazing how pushing down the throat of the gamers the same heated soup will give them strong results ... mind you they are not stupid, we are ... (I did not buy a FIFA nor an F1 for ages, all they are doind is selling DLCs at full price with small incremantal improvements).
