Dirt 5 Review - IGN

I want another MotorStorm game so badly. This isn't quite it, but it is getting pretty good reviews. Anyone have it that can compare to the pure fun that MotorStorm was?

I've got it on PS5. for a little context on my perspective, motorstorm 1 for me was the best, 2 was 2nd, 3rd was...third. I like all three of the games, but MS3 sort of lost the plot in my opinion.. anyways.. onto Dirt5...

I bought D5 thinking it was going to be a lot like motorstorm, but its not really... its sort of like that game gravel. high speed arcade racer that happens to have mud/sand/dirt/snow in it. the physics are really simple, like project gotham but offroad. you feel like a brick with 0 suspension. During the campaign, you'll end up constantly smashing into opponents, but there's 0 penalty to that. you get some minor damage modeling, but nothing like motorstorm, and definitely nothing that effects the performance. Speaking of performance, the balance is.. umm.. not a thing. There's clearly a fastest car in each category. So yeah, i sort of hated it for the first couple hours i played. ALL THAT SAID, i currently really enjoy playing the game. i got used to the weird physics and now im drifting my way around mud tracks at 90mph and enjoying the crap out of it. its still no motorstorm, but a solid 7/10 for me because it just is a fun game.

The game would be a 8 easy if it had fewer but faster opponents. there's just too much going on most of the time until you're out in front, then you're WAY out in front. Haven't played the online, because i dont play online in any racing game. (lag usually makes it unplayable and most people drive like trash)
