Noisy Pixel reviews Death end re;Quest 2 from developer Compile Heart and publisher Idea Factory International, available on PS4 and PC.
Death end re;Quest 2 is a horror RPG with a grisly narrative and unfiltered violence, however, hindered due to the poor Switch performance.
The Sadistic JRPG on Switch Death End re:Quest 2 is the sequel to Compile Heart and Idea Factory’s Visual Novel JRPG and is now available on the Nintendo Switch. Author: Aaron Moger for Game Hype UK.
Ten months since the original Death end re;Quest launched on the Switch, Idea Factory said today that the sequel to this horror-inspired visual novel RPG is out now. The Switch version is coming about six months after it was released on Steam.
I finished the original not that long ago. And it was a pretty odd game. The story was great, but the RPG gameplay was not really well developed and it was such small part of the overall experience (like 3/4 of it is basically a visual novel). Fortunately the story was more than enough to carry the game.
The studio also confirmed that the PC version will be uncensored. However that only applies for the characters of the original game. Because the new characters were all developed having Sony guidelines in mind, so they don't have a uncensored version to fall back to.
