I know a size comparison has been done. But these feature different angles i think people may be interested to see.

darthv721779d ago

It has to be due to the cooling. Id love to see the teardown after released.

Profchaos1779d ago

I'd agree I'm ok with a larger console if it means my family can sleep in peace without my playing modern warfare or gow at night waking the house up.

Mark's admission that cooking and noise has been poor in the pro really does indicate that they are taking it seriously and custom cooking should help address the noise levels

jukins1779d ago (Edited 1779d ago )

Might get a teardown before that. I remember cerny teasing a cooling solution that they would show on their teardown this was shortly after the 1st gdc reveal. Dont know if things have changed but id assume (more like hope) we'll be getting an explanation and teardown of the ps5 design

bouzebbal1778d ago

the PS4 on the thumbnail really doesn't do it justice.
looks like PS5 is as long as OG PS3, still my favorite console design to date.

OB1Biker1779d ago

Yes nice. It isn't as massive as we thought. It's big but mainly tall or wide whereas the PS4 was longer (from the front).

Bathyj1779d ago

Who wouldn't like another 3 inches?

Storm231779d ago

Then I would finally be about average...

The Wood1779d ago

Lol. . . Good sport

@Bathy. . . . Facts

Bathyj1779d ago

Thanks for playing along at home

medman1779d ago

Another 3 would put me at 17.

We're talkin millimeters, right?

Bathyj1779d ago

No we're talking inches but I'm also talking girth

rainslacker1779d ago

My wife tells me it doesn't matter with a disappointed look on her face every time.

Bathyj1779d ago

You're lucky. I've never found a woman that has what I'm looking for, that being low standards.

rainslacker1779d ago (Edited 1779d ago )

Maybe you're looking for love in all the wrong places. Have you tried the back streets of the local trailer parks? Maybe Wal-Mart after 2am?

Fantangoooo1778d ago

If it’s girth you are talking about XSX seems like one that would make em sing in all sorts of pitches ... lol

Yui_Suzumiya1778d ago

Interesting.. my hand makes the same disappointing face as well

GamerRN1778d ago

Follow up with "well maybe if you're pussy wasn't so big..."

rainslacker1778d ago

@Yui

But does it give you taco flavored kisses?

@Fantangoo

Yeah, but trying to put a square peg in a round hole? That sounds like something you see by accident when doing "research" to try and spice up one's love life.

chiefJohn1171779d ago

It's a lot bigger than I initially thought. It's around 33% taller than XSX

timotim1779d ago

About 6" taller than SX, and about 2-4" deeper. Its the largest console ever made.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media...

TeamIcoFan1779d ago

I'm surprised it's bigger than a PS3 OG, I remember that thing being a chonk.

1779d ago
Babadook71779d ago (Edited 1779d ago )

“About 6" taller than SX”

Nope.

There’s a lot of bs going around. Your link is part of that. Why is the xsx shorter than ps4 pro? Ps4 pro is 11.6” vs XSX 11.85”

XSX vs PS5.
11.85 vs 14.5.

Only 2.65” taller.

XSX is the largest console still, by volume.

chiefJohn1171779d ago (Edited 1779d ago )

Babdook PS4 pro is 12.9"
XSX is near identical in height to OneX which we know is shorter than PS4 pro

Babadook71779d ago (Edited 1779d ago )

@above.

You are confusing length with width.

https://www.playstation.com...

Ps3 fat was 11.42. Also not proportionate.

More accurate

omegaheat1778d ago (Edited 1778d ago )

Your measurement in comparison is a bit exaggerated. I think the Xbox Series X stands 11.85 inches tall. That makes the PS5 roughly 3 inches taller. I think what we'll see after these consoles launch is a mucher smaller console design in favor of the Xbox Series X. It also proves the brilliant engineering that went into designing the Xbox Series X. If you lay the Xbox horizontally it's only 6.3 inches deep. I'm getting vibes of double standard across the gaming community. I remember how some people chimed that it would be difficult to fit the Xbox Series X in to an entertainment cabinet. Now here we are with a PS5 that's almost as thick as a vanilla Xbox One and tall as a Space X shuttle. It really does look spacey, but it's growing on me day by day. I don't mind the polarizing design, but it will never look inconspicuous in the living room - especially at its size.

timotim1779d ago

That depends. We wont really know until we see what the competition can do. Its a next-gen console yes, but being the largest console created by far, yet weaker than SX wont look good if that holds true...

IRetrouk1779d ago (Edited 1779d ago )

Not really, the gpu runs at a higher clock, much higher than anything before it in consoles, that creates more heat and the need for more room to cool all the components, the ssd would also heat up more due to the higher speeds too🤷‍♂️ makes sense when you think about it.

timotim1779d ago

Again, if true, that would be higher clocks and faster SSD for the weaker system...design is all about choice...Cerny chose that for you...you'd have to live with those choices regardless.

IRetrouk1778d ago (Edited 1778d ago )

Being weaker has nothing to do with the design of the box, it's about heat not power....
Again very easy to understand....
Cerny designed a great system with some really good looking games shown, I like the choices cerny made🤷‍♂️

Rhythmattic1778d ago

Oh tim..tim...tim..tim..........
"yet weaker than SX wont look good if that holds true..."
Holds True? True to what?
Your statement is the classic example of FUD.
To add.. Do i know? NO.

DarXyde1778d ago (Edited 1778d ago )

timotim,

So... depending on what the competition can do will determine whether or not PS5 is a beast? I shouldn't entertain such stupid logic (or weak trolling), but I'm too fascinated to ignore this logical trainwreck.

So now that we know what PS5 can do, Xbox One X's beast status has been cancelled.

While we're at it, why not cancel PS5 and Series X's beast status once we see what Ampere can do?

Oh, but then there are the rumors of Big Navi outperforming Ampere. I guess Nvidia might get its beast card revoked on arrival.

But really... what about the supercomputers of today? Nothing can beat what's in hi-powered controlled lab settings. Great! No beasts anywhere to be found in anyone's home! That's good because monsters are totally scary.

You guys are the worst kind of trolls sometimes.

Babadook71778d ago (Edited 1778d ago )

"but being the largest console created by far, yet weaker than SX wont look good if that holds true..."

@timotim

XSX is the more powerful by a mere 18% (not counting specialty chips).

PS5 is the faster console by a whopping 130%.

Overall PS5 looks to be the better hardware.

And like I pointed out, by volume the XSX is still the bigger machine. So being bigger and less capable won't look good.

Good things come in small packages, GREAT things come in big packages.

mastershredder1779d ago (Edited 1779d ago )

These must be concerns for size queen gamers that display their console like a trophy.

rainslacker1779d ago

Sega has a console for them. It's called the Game Gear mini.

Tacoboto1779d ago (Edited 1779d ago )

IGN has a good comparison up with this, PS4 Pro, One X and Series X.

This gen will be the gen of beasts

Babadook71778d ago (Edited 1778d ago )

That one has been shown to be inaccurate. Like most stuff from IGNorance

So is Sega these days.

Funny really you make a good game and make it available for sale and people buy it. What a world we live in

northpaws57m ago

Still this argument? Lol.

The truth is the Xbox division cannot even survive without PS now, not the other way around.

Jigga691h ago

Now that Xbox fanboys have accepted that xbox games will be released on PS5 (and Switch 2), Microsoft will be able to release them on Day one from now on. Just had to get people to swallow the pill.

dveio20m ago

I really gotta say I am a bit curious about E-Day.

With hardly any sales anymore, wether hardware nor software, probably not even subscriptions in a quantity they would want to have:

Is Spencer going to pull the trigger and bring Gears D1 on Playstation?

goken20m ago

It’s what a good game from a good franchise deserves.
I still think it would have done better if it came out on PS5 day one.

dveio5m ago

That's my guess, too.

In hindsight, it's really been a bold decision to not release it on Playstation in a month like December.

But instead back in August already to announce it's going to come to Playstation, then proceed to make it a weird "4 ½ months timed exclusive", and then to release it in a time with so much competition/big games being around.

Isn't this just weird?

I mean why would you do that, purely from a business point of view speaking.
